Job Description
The responsibility of the Project Director is to ensure that activities under their control are planned. monitored and clearly communicated to the manager responsible to those with accountability for delivery of work scope.
The Project Director is to lead, innovative and motivate the integrated team including supply chain to ensure that the programme is delivered to time, quality and cost.
This site-based role is to take responsibility for the delivery of a major complex build engineering building services within a newly constructed building shell. The project is within a highly regulated industry and has a programme duration of over 4 years.
The position is responsible for a dedicated integrated team of Project Managers and Package Managers and engineers including Supply Chain partners to meet a demanding programme.
Responsibilities
- Manage a dedicated professional team.
- Deliver to a demanding programme.
- Meet the project high quality requirements.
- Integrate with the Clients delivery team.
- Manage the Safety and Environmental requirements of the project.
- Undertake Principal Contractors duties and responsibilities.
- Deliver to budget and production targets.
- Ensure project schedules are continually monitored. updated and reported against including forecasts and comparisons against baselines to meet the business rhythm.
- Assist the Planner in producing construction strategy plus long and short term look ahead schedules,
- Ensure that change within project schedules and manage change is in line with latest procedure.
- Analyse schedule data and communicate any potential delays.
- Provide advice and support to maintain progress and recommend corrective action where necessary.
- Liaise with all project team members, departments. subcontractors. suppliers
- Attend the regular Progress Review meetings and other meetings relating to project controls.
- Assessment and advice on logistics and construction methods and strategy
- Liaison with the Commercial Manager with respect to supply chain performance. early warnings and compensation events.
- The Project Director must ensure the necessary management and supervision is in place to correctly manage, advise and monitor all activities and control all risks.
- The Project Director must ensure that all reportable accidents, environmental incidents, reportable diseases, dangerous occurrences and high potential events are fully investigated and that both remedial and preventative actions are identified and implemented.
Qualifications
- Membership of an appropriate professional institute as an incorporated engineer with equivalent academic or vocational certification
- (Level 5 or above].
- Must be able to articulate technical complexities and have very good communication skills.
- Able to chair meetings and direct the work to meet the programme.
- Able to engage within the project teams to influence project outcome across a number of interlinking projects.
- Needs an exceptional understanding of HSAWA, CDM, Risk assessments, safety systems, safety cases: and S50W
- People and processes management skills.
- The Project Management of Construction and practical construction site experience is essential.
- People management skills and process experience
- Satisfactory experience of construction management for the scope of the role.
- Client experience of managing and working with contracts.
