Project Engineer – Test & Validation to join the Mechanical Systems department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment.
About The Role
Reporting to the Principal Engineer for Mechanical Test and Validation, the engineer in this key role will be assigned to multiple projects to support the coordination and delivery of the diverse range of test and development activities within Fortescue Zero including test preparation, planning, logistics and test support activities for the heavy industry, Mobility and defence sectors, with a focus on power conversion, batteries, modules, and energy storage.
What You Will Do
- Support Senior or Principal engineer on various projects
- Identifying the preferred test houses and locations
- Assist with the development of test equipment and test rigs in order to perform tests.
- Test Preparation, Instrumentation, Supplier Facility Planning, and Test Logistics including the identification of parts where required.
- Managing Systems Preparation and Commissioning of Hardware at test locations.
- Supporting Electrical Systems and Software teams as required
- Review project Design Verification Plans and supporting PM’s and Systems Engineering in creating accurate test plans.
- Local management of Instrumentation, data management recording and analysis as required.
- Engage with Global Test Facilities
- Engage with Systems Engineering and DVP owners to ensure compatible plans.
- Collaborate with procurement and workshop to keep track of facility plans.
- Running and coordinating Tests Globally.
- A potential for extended travel to Australia and US
About You
- Mechanical Engineering graduate with adequate experience in a similar industry
- Test & Validation Experience
- Experience of 3D CAD and PML software is desirable (ideally NX and Team centre)
- Working Collaboratively within a Cross Functional Team
- Hands on proactive attitude and comfortable in completing practical tasks (test rig, prototype assemblies)
- Able to work in very challenging time schedule.
- Data acquisition and analysis experience is desirable with the ability to present findings clearly and concisely.
- Due to the nature of some of the projects being carried out at Fortescue Zero you be able provide your previous 5 years employment or have security clearance.
