We are currently recruiting for a
Project Scientist to join a dynamic environmental assessment team within the water/environment section in RPS Belfast or Letterkenny offices, working on a range of water environment and engineering projects across Ireland and the UK.
In this role, you will provide essential support to the environmental assessment team in preparing technical reports and environmental impact assessments, with a particular focus on supporting our extensive work in the fast-growing offshore renewable energy sector and the consenting of marine infrastructure projects. The role will involve drafting high-quality technical reports and Environmental Impact Assessment Report/Environmental Statement chapters

Duties
- Working within a large team of civil engineers, drainage modellers, environmental specialists, and hydrogeological specialists
- River habitat surveys
- Undertaking and/or managing field work in the area of hydrology, water quality or aquatic ecology
- Water quality assessment
- Environmental Assessment with a particular focus on water/aquatic environment
- GIS analysis, mappingand data management
- Writing technical reports and EIA chapters
- Assistance on day to day project management
- Attendance at client meetings as required
Qualifications
- Relevant Degree in environmental science or engineering
- Chartered or working towards Chartership with a relevant institution (CIWEM, CIEEM, CIWM)
Essential Skills
- Strong communication skills essential
- Ability work to on own and as part of a team
- Environmental science/engineering qualifications and experience
- Strong understanding and demonstrable experience of the surveys, assessments, GIS analysis and/or catchment management schemes
- Sound knowledge of environmental legislation in particular Water Framework Directive, SEA, EIA, Birds and Habitats Directives
- Ability to use GIS
- Able to provide technical review of deliverables
- Ability to identify, appraise and mitigate water quality management options
- Proficient in report writing
- Demonstrate project management skills, including the ability to manage and delivery projects on time and to budget
- Support in building the RPS water environment business
- A full driving licence
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of catchment drainage and assessment
- Able to contribute to the preparation of tenders
