We are now recruiting for a
Purchasing Coordinator, who will be responsible for the coordination of a variety of purchasing activities on site.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage and co-ordinate the stores operative to help aid with loading, unloading, stock takes and deliveries
- Ensuring all delivery/collection vehicles are loaded/unloaded in an efficient and safe manner.
- Load containers with cattle hides and sheep skins.
- Ensure the yard is in a clean, tidy, and always kept in an organised state, being audit ready.
- Organise and stock check trays, packaging etc, working with site departments to maintain required stock levels.
- Deliver packaging to departments as required.
- Waste management including the transport of waste containers and proper disposal in accordance with procedures and policies.
- Assist in the segregation, packaging, and labelling of wastes.
- Liaising with third parties for waste collection.
- Advise of any pest control risks and issues on site.
- Assist production colleagues when required, with tasks as instructed, i.e., lifting/moving items around yard and overring for production forklift drivers as required.
- Understanding and monitoring the traffic management system and working plan of the yard
- Improve and challenge existing processes, methods and tools with a constructive and positive approach.
- Work as an integral part of the management team and strive for the team's progress and success in negotiations.
- Proactively networking both internally and externally to ensure understanding of procurement trends and knowledge remains current.
- Weekly metrics reporting for Ops and Finance, in terms of usage, cost and variations identified.
- Maintain a database of inventory across all storage area and perform weekly stock takes to ensure correct reporting and allocation of stocks to stores.
- Work with Forklift and designated personnel in terms of loading and unloading deliveries to site.
- Point of contact for tray, pallet and dolav rentals, purchases and dehires for the site. Work with production to ensure minimum holding readily available on site in terms of fluctuations.
- Monitor product usage and identify trends in terms of minimum stock holdings and safety stock.
- Maintain compliance with Group Purchasing strategy and adhere to targets that have been set.
- Proactively seek the best quality and value for money products.
- Build and maintain good relationships with both internal customers and external suppliers.
- Proactively thinking of ideas for the future and supporting change across the organisation.
- Build and maintain good relationships with the internal customers and other stakeholders across the site and the Kepak Group.
- Research and challenge in terms of costs and delivery, in terms of additional suppliers to develop more supplier options and remove single points of failure.
- Ad-hoc holiday cover required for Production teams
- Any other duties as required by management and within the competency of the post holder
