The purpose of this role will be to design and implement an appropriate test automation framework, build, and maintain test automation solutions, and contribute to the wider automation strategy. The incoming Test Automation Engineer will also as well as be the advocate for quality within the team and broader organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement an appropriate test automation framework and help develop the wider automation strategy in partnership with the Software Engineering Leadership team
- Write, design, and execute well-structured automated tests that adhere to industry best practice.
- Aim to achieve high test coverage for critical features of the product.
- Work closely with the engineering team to build a quality first mindset and ensure a high quality standard from the start.
- Be an advocate for quality and seek to implement software quality best practices with the team and broader organization.
- Meticulously document testing processes, procedures, and test cases.
- Raise potential technical issues early for the engineering team to consider in the build.
- Consider and implemented performance testing to confirm system performance, resilience, and capacity requirements.
- Log and track defects on the company’s defect tracking system.
- Review project progress and feedback honest status reports to the team and stakeholders.
- Be able to meet tight deadlines whilst adhering to industry standards in an FCA regulated environment inclusive of complying and responding to internal/external audits
Required Skills And Experience
- Previous QA Automation experience operating within the Financial Services or FinTech industry
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and principles
- Demonstrated expertise in implementing test automation with proficiency in writing code-based solutions.
- Knowledge of existing QA/testing tools, working in React / .NET.
- Awareness of test automation best practices.
- Experience of using JIRA and Zephyr for creating test cases.
- ISTQB qualified.
- Ability to track key quality metrics, produce M.I, and communicate findings regularly to stakeholders.
- Computer Science / IT degree or equivalent experience
Desired Skills & Experience
- Previous QA Automation experience within the FinTech industry
- Certification in Agile methodologies (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster, Agile Certified Practitioner).
- Knowledge of financial markets, especially within the Equity and Fixed income asset classes
- Experience of API testing
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
