Role Purpose
Accountable for the Quality Engineering activities within the respective project and working in support of the operational requirements, ensuring that quality is maintained by adherence to customer and regulatory authority requirements. Assist in the control of manufacturing processes and the application of problem solving and improvement tools. To provide assistance in the development and deployment of the Quality Policy and Strategy, provide support for the key project quality activities and ensure that project quality issues are effectively reported and managed.

Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of a robust Corrective and Preventive Action process which establishes clear Root Cause and identifies effective solutions for Internal, Customer and Supplier Product Quality non-conformances.
- Manage the Material Review Board (MRB) process and ensure that all items are appropriately dispositioned and robust corrective action is established and effectively discharged.
- Support production activities, ensuring all Quality Engineering processes are effectively deployed in line with the customer and regulatory authority requirements, such as EASA Part 21G and AS9100 Rev D.
- Analyse and compile performance reports and process control statistics in order to determine and improve process capability or product quality.
- To ensure appropriate inspection planning, Last Article Inspection (LAI) and First Article Inspection/Verification (FAI/FAV) and delegated source inspection programmes are generated and maintained by the project.
- Take the appropriate action to review and maintain the QMS and assist the project in the development, deployment and maintenance of relevant project quality policies and procedures.
- Provide support to the project in relation to being the Quality focal point for the customer,suppliers and regulatory authorities as appropriate.
- Support Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plans, Statistical Process Control (SPC) as part of overarching Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for key products.
- Effective communication with key support functions is essential.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Qualified to minimum HNC level or equivalent in a related discipline.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience preferably in Aerospace or equivalent manufacturing industry.
- Understanding and use of standard Quality Tools and Techniques.
- Knowledge of AS9100 Rev D as well as regulatory authority approval and certification requirements.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, PFMEA, Control Plans, and SPC (within APQP / PPAP) would be an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills - interface with Customers and Suppliers.
- Knowledge of engineering systems including awareness of drawings and systems as applied within our major customers such as Boeing and Airbus would be an advantage.
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Packages - Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access.
Decision Making Authority
- Guidance is typically available from established policies or from related procedures. In addition guidance is also available from well defined procedures (what to do, not how to do it).
- Work is reviewed from time to time by the Senior Engineer/Team Leader. Only unusual problems/issues are referred to line manager and /or more experienced staff.
- Decisions which affect their own job seldom requires approval. Decisions which impact on a work team, a department, other projects or functions will require regular approval from the Team Leader. In addition decisions which impact on the customer or suppliers will require regular approval from the Team Leader.
- There will be level of responsibility for others within the team due to the nature of the work. This will generally be for new recruits to the department and/or technical apprentices. Most of the time is spent performing work similar to that performed by the others in the team.
