About The Role

About Hinkley Point C

The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UKs move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year.

What you'll be doing

  • Monitoring and reporting compliance with quality standards and procedures all installation, calibration and testing processes of electrical and instrumentation scope.
  • Recommend methods to improve overall quality and assists in analysing quality concerns. Monitor and assist construction to achieve quality standards.
  • Perform inspections in accordance with the ITP (Inspection and Test Plan).
  • Liaise with client’s representative for conducting of day to day inspection during the construction activities.
  • Ensure installation of equipment is in compliance with ECS Code, drawings, vendor and code requirements with respect to; material, alignment, etc.
  • Assist QC Manager and Area Leads in executing their responsibilities.
  • Maintaining LTQR’s as required during inspections ensuring all signatures on LTQR and ITP during inspection.
  • Updating SONIM register as required.
  • Champion Foreign Material Exclusion, preventing ingress or entrapment of non- specified materials, loose items or debris in equipment and /or systems during assembly and testing.

Who we're looking for

  • Qualifications in an Engineering discipline, ONC / HNC / HND (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in progressively responsible inspection positions, understanding of isometric drawings.
  • CSWIP, 3.1/3.2 welding inspection qualification for welding
  • Major Project Experience
  • Nuclear Experience would be beneficial
  • Ability to gain a high level security clearance.
