Description

The Quality Technician will support the Wafer Fabrication Development and Manufacturing teams by performing a range of quality assurance tasks. The facility focuses on the production of Indium Phosphide wafers, progressing from development through to individual chip manufacturing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Quality Technician supporting product manufacturing, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring product quality and compliance with specification requirements.
  • Assisting the Quality Engineer in various quality control tasks.
  • Conducting internal process audits, ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) audits, and managing corrective and preventive actions.

You will also be involved in:

  • Routine process and ESD audits to assess manufacturing line performance.
  • Supporting and coordinating corrective action processes.
  • Performing spot check audits and participating in shop floor quality walks.
  • Driving and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assisting with customer audits and visits.
  • Supporting on-site calibration processes.
  • Inspecting components and finished products during Goods In and Goods Out procedures.
  • Contributing to the internal audit programme.
  • Participating in change control activities, including approval processes and effectiveness monitoring.
  • Developing and updating operational procedures and quality assurance documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BTEC ONC/OND in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent), OR
  • 3–5 years of relevant quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong problem-solving skills using a range of techniques.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and/or product assembly.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Background in quality auditing.
  • Ability to identify problems, analyse data, and draw logical conclusions.
  • Experience with calibration processes (preferred).
  • Previous work in a cleanroom environment (preferred).
  • Familiarity with systems such as SAP, Agile, or PROMIS (or similar platforms).
