Position
The successful RF & Microwave Engineer will have design and test responsibility for an RF Module (from die/wafer level upwards and includes some sub-system understanding). The role requires experience of RF / Power Amplifier Design and measurements and must include some or all of the following (depending on seniority/experience):
- Work as part of the technical team to deliver internal and external work-packages and projects
- Provide detailed technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders
- Adhere to work specifications
- Attend and contribute to project and design reviews
- Interact with the other engineering functions of Power Electronics, Photonics and Advanced Packaging to deliver cross functional work-packages and projects
Requirements
Our Innovation Centre in Newport is the main place of work for this position but there would be some need to travel to Telecoms Hub in the Bristol & Bath Science Park, to use some lab equipment and meet the team.
The successful candidate should have a background in at least one of the following areas:
- Semiconductor Device Physics and/or Modelling
- MMIC Design/RF IC design
- Power Amplifier design and measurement
- RF/ Microwave systems engineering
As well as the above, you should have:
- General RF design & test experience
- Load Pull measurement and data analysis
- Ability and willingness to learn new skills/techniques
- Technical report writing
- Ability to plan and organise tasks to meet deliverables according to project schedules
- Research and Development Skills
- Ideally a Degree in relevant science, engineering or related discipline
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to quickly understand complex issues and to propose solutions
- Excellent team working skills with the ability to work collaboratively and co-operatively with colleagues
- Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to ensure effective communication with a wide range of technical stakeholders
