Job Purpose

To ensure that United Utilities is compliant with Regulatory and Statutory legislation requirements in respect of assets and equipment coming under their remit.

To ensure all assets and equipment remain compliant and that all regulatory and statutory maintenance activities are undertaken in an efficient and effective way.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Ensure all in scope assets and equipment are maintained in compliance with any required current legislation or regulation.
  • Lead the statutory and regulatory teams to manage delivery of compliance activities
  • Ensure all third parties engaged in activity in completion of the work adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safe systems of work.
  • Ensure all procedures and processes associated with the delivery of this work are documented, communicated and adhered to across the company.
  • Working with Commercial teams ensure that all third party arrangements are robust and meet the requirements of the compliance activities.
  • Working with other areas of the business, ensure a delivery plan is in place to cover all statutory and regulatory activities including; PSSR, LOLER, Gas Safety Regulations, Water Regs etc.
  • Responsible for being the custodian of documentation, processes, systems and reporting information across business areas

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Have the required budget and capital programme management skills to ensure work is delivered in an efficient way, adhering to UU’s financial processes.
  • Have the leadership skills required to lead the team and the influencing skills to manage external resources and parties.
  • Technical experience of water and wastewater assets and any associated statutory and regulatory requirements would be preferred.
  • Planning will be a key aspect of the role, including developing long-term plans to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance
  • Managing the successful completion of work through effective management will be a key aspect of the success of this role.

Qualifications

  • Hold an engineering qualification in a relevant discipline and be qualified to IOSH or equivalent standard accredited by the HSE.
  • Be required to hold a degree or equivalent or have the relevant experience to demonstrate a high level of capability in the area of delivering large programmes of work.
