Description

The Regulatory Department is one of the largest in the country and is recognised by clients and other lawyers as being one of the best. We advise clients across all sectors including health, public sector, corporations and individuals.


We are currently recruiting for a Paralegal to join our National Police team. In particular, we are looking for paralegals to advise and prepare civil protective orders for the Magistrates’ Court including Domestic Violence Protection Orders, Stalking Protection Orders, Sexual Harm Prevention Orders, Sexual Risk Orders, Anti-Social Behaviour injunctions and closure orders.


Main duties and responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of civil protective orders
  • Organise Case Manager diary and action lists
  • Draft various documents including court applications
  • Achieve set financial and chargeable targets
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values

This list is not intended to be exhaustive and you will be expected to perform other duties and have other responsibilities that fall within the wider remit of the role.


About You


Ideally you will have previous experience as a paralegal in regulatory or police law and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks. We also require you to have/be;



  • Experience of drafting
  • Self-motivated & self-directed
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and targets
  • Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative
  • Willingness to learn new areas of law
  • Flexible approach to work and a willingness to travel, if necessary
  • Experience of advising and acting on behalf of police forces (desirable)
