Role & Responsibilities
We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Relationship Manager to join the Client Group in London. The successful candidate will play a key role, in partnership with Business Development Manager colleagues, managing a large and complex book of assigned clients, driving the relationship management needs, and delivering exceptional service.
Primary Responsibilities Will Include
- Independently and proactively leading engagements with clients to understand their investment and servicing needs, including discussing their portfolios with Wellington, providing high level service expertise, and hosting client meetings;
- Cultivating and executing on cross sell opportunities;
- Partnering with Business Development Managers on shared accounts, analyzing performance data, investment characteristics, and risk profiles of client portfolios, and attending portfolio reviews and defence meetings;
- Serving as a central point of contact internally and externally to ensure that client servicing needs are met;
- Preparing for, leading, and providing follow-up on, client meetings and inquiries;
- Building and demonstrating a deep understanding of the industry / market / channel in which their clients operate;
- Understanding how each client’s overall objectives influence their investment and servicing requirements;
- Demonstrating in-depth knowledge of, and appreciation for, the client marketplace, including regulatory, accounting, tax, and asset allocation considerations;
- Managing client expectations, balancing the interests of both clients and the firm;
- Developing team members by identifying and carving out opportunities for less experienced colleagues to work independently;
- Working closely with subject matter experts firmwide to onboard new client accounts;
- Partnering with other functional areas to address client issues, concerns, and opportunities;
- Liaising with clients and internal parties to ensure compliance with applicable regulations;
- Identifying opportunities to create efficiencies, and assisting in internal initiatives to implement recommendations.
Qualifications / Characteristics
The successful candidate is likely to have:
- A strong academic background, ideally including a relevant professional qualification (e.g. CFA) or progress towards one:
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience, including a proven track record of successfully building and managing relationships with clients;
- Expertise in managing a large territory, and the ability and willingness to travel;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with an ability to influence others;
- An innovative and growth mindset;
- An ability to operate calmly under pressure;
- Demonstrable leadership skills, and team development experience.
- Proficiency in Salesforce, Excel and Outlook.
Please note that this is an SMCR certified persons role.
