About The Role
We are seeking a Senior Associate to join our Tax Innovation & Capital Incentives (ICI) team. With flexibility on location, you can be based at any of our national offices. We are a diverse and dynamic team with a strong focus on growth and innovation.
We advise businesses on HMRC incentives, including Research & Development reliefs, Patent Box claims, and Capital Allowances claims, which are effective tools to reward innovation and technological development. Our goal is to deliver a top-quality client experience that sets us apart from our competitors.
This role is client-facing from the outset, and you will be expected to start building effective working relationships with clients from day one, including taking the lead in communications. Prior experience in Innovation and Capital Incentives (ICI) is therefore essential.
What Your Days Will Look Like
- Sharing your knowledge and expertise through coaching, while recognising the importance of exposing all team members to the practical application of legislation for their development.
- Taking a lead role in managing client relationships, which includes overseeing deadlines, handling day-to-day queries, running portions of meetings, and establishing yourself as a trusted contact.
- Working directly with Managers and Senior Managers to support them in managing client relationships and delivering projects effectively.
- Drafting detailed reports to support numerical claims for filing with HMRC.
- Preparing project technical summaries to demonstrate the innovative activities undertaken by clients.
- Assisting with the review of numerical aspects of claims and ensuring the correct application of the rules.
- Actively identifying opportunities to add value to clients by collaborating with the wider tax team and other lines of service across the Firm.
- Proactively engaging in business development activities, seeking opportunities to win work from both existing clients and new targets.
This role is for you if
- A solid understanding of the R&D regimes with experience in preparing both SME and RDEC claims. This includes reviewing claim workings, contributing to client technical discussions, and preparing supporting documentation.
- Strong interpersonal skills are essential to take a lead role with clients and liaise effectively with both our team and the wider tax team at PwC.
- The ability to work independently and take responsibility for your own development, demonstrating strong self-leadership.
- Enthusiasm and a passion for delivering excellent client service, with the ability to engage effectively with clients at all levels of seniority.
- Strong organisational abilities to manage multiple client engagements across our portfolio, often involving various internal and external stakeholders.
- An excellent track record of written skills, enabling you to produce high-quality documentation.
- Proficiency in Excel and strong analytical abilities to understand and compile the numerical aspects of claims.
- Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and propose potential solutions or approaches.
