Leonardo have a number of exciting and immediate opportunities for RF Engineers across their sites in Southampton, Basildon and Bristol. We are looking for experienced RF Engineers for Intermediate, Senior and Lead Engineering roles.

About The Role
You will work with industry leading engineers in the development of our RF products. You will support the development of new and existing products, as well as providing solutions for our customers. Day to day duties include;
- Research and development of low Technology Readiness Level (TRL)
- Investigating and defining RF/Communication system architectures and protocols
- Plan and conduct studies in a wide variety of communication technologies including SDR, RF, IP
- Support system integration and test activities
- Support verification of system requirements
- Capture stakeholder and system requirements
- Modelling of components of the system design
Depending on experience, you may lead technical activities and initiatives. Senior/Lead Engineers will have the opportunity to act as Design Authority throughout the project throughout the project lifecycle, and mentor and coach other engineers.
About You
You will have proven experience as a RF Engineer, either through industry or advanced academic research. Ideally, you will have also have a relevant education, although a deep theoretical knowledge is not necessarily required. Successful RF systems engineers will be able to apply their engineering experience that we can build upon through training, team working and mentoring.
For senior/lead engineers, we are able to create a role and responsibilities around your experience.
Attributes include;
- Experience of Communication systems
- IP Communication
- Modulation techniques and performance
- Deployed system propagation effects
- Software Defined Radio
- Experience working with telecommunication (2G/3G/4G) Air-Interface specification.
- Experience with electronics assembly and testing, inclusive of RF systems under software control
- Knowledge of low power RF hardware, such as Receivers, Transmitters, Synthesisers and filters.
- Knowledge of military and international specifications and standards for EMC, Environmental and safety, applicable to body-worn and vehicle installation
Domain specialisms;
- Digital signal processing
- RF systems
- Electro-optic systems
- Medical imaging systems, image processing, image / object classification / identification
- Computer vision image processing (e.g. segmentation, clustering)
- Multi-sensor data fusion and tracking
- Real time data simulation/generation
Candidates skilled within the following Systems Engineering specialisms are highly desirable;
