Job Description
Safe Controls of Operation Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the safe execution of planned site outages to allow installation and commissioning activities to take place. This role is critical for ensuring that all work carried out on the site is done safely and in compliance with relevant regulations
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety plans for all installation and commissioning activities as part of planned outages
- Conduct thorough risk assessments for all planned operations, identifying potential hazards and implementing control measures to mitigate risks
- Coordinate site operations as part of any planned outages, ensuring that they are conducted in a controlled and safe manner. This includes the scheduling and sequencing of work to minimize risks
- Act as a liaison between different stakeholders (operations, maintenance, contractors, and management) to ensure clear communication of safety requirements and operational plans
- Conduct regular safety briefings and toolbox talks to ensure all personnel are aware of the risks and safety measures for their tasks
- Ensure that all planned outage operations are conducted in a way that minimizes environmental impact, particularly in sensitive areas such as water sources and treatment facilities
- Ensure that all planned outage operations on the site comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the process, addressing any non-compliance or safety concerns promptly
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all planned outage-related activities, including risk assessments, permits, inspections, single point of failure analysis and incident reports
Qualifications
- Proven ability to manage a large team
- Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the water quality standards and procedures
- Extensive experience of the water industry ideally dealing with the Southern Water SCO process or similar planned outage management
