The Royal Yachting Association, based in Hamble, near Southampton, is the national governing body for all forms of recreational, competitive and professional boating. It represents dinghy and yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, RIBs and sports boats, windsurfing, inland cruising, and personal watercraft.

Context of the Role:
It is an exciting time to join the new Legal, Governance and Integrity Department, which includes the RYA's Internal Legal Advisory Service, Complaints Service, the RYA Tribunal, and the Safe Sport (safeguarding and Inclusion) Teams. The department provides expertise in safeguarding, equality and inclusion, anti-doping, and legal/regulatory matters.
The Safe Sport Case Officer role plays an integral role in delivering the RYA Safe Sport agenda by focusing on the management of safe sport related case work in line with the RYA case management process and procedures, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including the police, local authorities, affiliated organisations, NGBs, and third-sector bodies. The role also involves supporting the RYA’s safeguarding education programme and the Urgent Enquiry Service on a rota basis. The role will require occasional travel, overnight stays, and attendance at events outside normal office hours (with time off in lieu provided).
Summary of Responsibilities:
· Manage the Safe Sport case work portfolio with support from the RYA Safeguarding Officer, in line with the case management process, which includes representing the RYA at multi-disciplinary meetings and preparing cases to be presented to the Case Management Group and RYA Tribunal.
· Producing case data reports to the Board, Senior Management Team (SMT), Safeguarding Steering Group and CPSU identifying trends
· Collaborate with the PR and Communications team in managing cases with reputational risk and media interest.
Skills and Experience Required:
Desirable:
· Knowledge and understanding of the principles of “Safe Sport”
· Knowledge of safeguarding within the sport or physical activity sectors
· Knowledge of the PowerBi Platform
