Airborne UK is on a mission to make composite materials more affordable through cutting-edge Automation and Digitalisation. We’re now looking for a commercially driven and strategic Sales Director to lead our UK business development efforts and help shape the future of composite manufacturing.
As Sales Director, you’ll be responsible for achieving the commercial goals of our UK organisation—personally generating leads, closing deals, and developing long-term customer partnerships. You’ll lead a small team and contribute to the broader leadership of the site. This role is a stepping stone to the Managing Director position, offering a clear path for progression.
Airborne UK has the capability to design composite structures, manufacturing tooling, produce prototypes and produce industrial volumes using our in-house automation capability. We're looking to grow our business in markets requiring rapid scale-up compatible with our ability to automate.
Responsibilities include:
· Generate leads, nurture opportunities, and close purchase orders to drive profitable growth.
· Develop and implement a UK sales strategy aligned with Airborne’s strategic goals.
· Build and manage a high-performing sales team, setting clear KPIs and providing coaching.
· Own key customer relationships and negotiate major contracts and partnerships.
· Collaborate cross-functionally with product, finance, and operations teams.
· Provide accurate forecasting and contribute to sales budgeting and reporting.
Experience
· Degree-level education in engineering, materials science, chemistry, or a related field.
· At least 5 years’ experience in technical sales or business development.
· Background in composites; experience in the Defence sector is a strong advantage.
· A track record of sales leadership and driving commercial success in complex technical environments.
