The Sea Ceptor Weapon Systems team is expanding and seeks a Systems Engineer to lead the Systems activity associated with Export New Business
Salary: Up to £57,000 Depending on Experience
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-3 days per week on-site due to workload classification

The Opportunity:
Sea Ceptor is a very successful, growing, innovative, high profile maritime air defence system that has secured multiple UK and export contracts. Pivotal to these roles is enabling the delivery of Sea Ceptor to multiple customers concurrently, whilst managing adaptations for an increasing number of export customers.
The System lead for Export New Business is responsible for the Systems oversight, planning, delivery, budgetary and quality control for all System elements of activity required to support the Export New Business team. This role requires cooperation across the Sea Ceptor Weapon System team as well as with the Export New Business team.
Specific responsibilities include:
- To be the primary point of contact with the Export New Business Team and to provide Systems resource into the Export New Business team to provide bid support and Systems support to technical queries and ongoing export bids, including but not limited to:
- Provision of technical support to the Export New Business team (ensuring work requests are clearly scoped/defined).
- System cost base generation (to support specific bids) and timely reviews with all stakeholders (including Head of Function).
- Identification of Systems resource requirements in a timely fashion to support fluctuating workloads, whether supporting new bids, technical queries, or contracts that are awarded.
- Monthly communication with Head of Export New Business and appropriate System team members.
- Identification of opportunities for the Systems and New Business teams to work together in an efficient manner.
- Responsible for the maintenance of the Sea Ceptor Generic Documentation Suite (GDS), as advised by the Export New Business team:
- Maintaining a clear and accurate record of which GDS documents are baselined for each respective programme.
- Responsible for technical content within the GDS, and coherency between documents.
- Coordinate monthly "Mini-CMC".
- Support to Export New Business in the maintenance of the Generic Export SoW, and the generation of programme specific SoW annexes ahead of contract delivery.
- Responsible for the Generic Export Cost base and WLF for Systems activity, ensuring alignment to the Generic Export SoW.
- Monitoring workload forecast for upcoming 18 months, highlighting any resource shortfalls and excesses.
- Support technical meetings including with external stakeholders as requested.
- Work in close proximity with the Domestic New Business lead to ensure coherency and alignment of approach with significant domestic activity and bids.
- Opportunity to broaden the role by becoming a System' lead for a specific programme in delivery phase.
- Support any other Systems activity for currently contracted programmes as required.
What we want from you:
- An effective team player with good interpersonal and influencing skills, essential to working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and in building cohesion in the relationships between the Systems team and various interfacing teams.
- Experience and awareness of bid lifecycles would be beneficial
- Ability to work proactively and flexibly across a number of concurrent programmes (ability to bring clarity to complex requests)
- A strong motivation for delivery, enabled by an ability to work proactively and flexibly across a number of variant programmes for which relative priorities can change quickly;
- A strong appreciation of the Systems Engineering lifecycle
- Ability to respond quickly when programme priorities change.
- Awareness of RTC & DOORS would be beneficial.
