Brief Description
Seasons Delivery is a widely varied and critical function, supporting safety and performance on the railway all year round. The ever-changing climate and weather drives a need to be continuously preparing, learning and evolving. The Seasons Delivery Manager role leads for the route in all aspects of seasons management and weather-related incidents including delivering associated assurance and mitigation plans across Network Rail and coordinating the delivery of agreed services to our customers. Through developing and strengthening cross-functional and cross-industry stakeholder relationships, the Seasons Delivery Manager is accountable for seasonal performance improvement plans and developing ongoing seasonal resilience strategies.
About The Role (External)
Your Main Responsibilities will be to:
- Develop route seasonal resilience plans considering new technological, plant and operational improvement plans.
- Liaise with central centre of excellence and external bodies to deliver seasonal strategies that are inclusive of best practice.
- Accountable for delivering improving performance across a number of key performance indicators that are agreed across operators, maintenance, operations, performance and route services.
- Be the single point of contact within the route both internally and externally for all seasonal and extreme weather management matters.
- Develop, own and continuously improve the Route Seasonal Plan in conjunction with lead operators, operations, maintenance and performance teams making use of stage gate reviews to deliver continuous improvement with regards to seasonal and extreme weather management.
- Manage compliance with regard to all seasonal and extreme weather operational standards and take ownership of all seasonal and extreme weather key performance indicators providing detailed, highly numerate reports and analysis on progress against targets as required.
- Manage the improvement of the extreme weather response process within the route so that effective proactive measures are taken in response to extreme weather forecasts. Liaise with gold command in event of major incident or severe disruption.
- Be the route client for seasonal treatment fleet liaising with suppliers, operators and other functions so that a robust and comprehensive seasonal treatment programme is specified and ultimately delivered.
- Manage the route autumn budget in respect to efficient procurement of goods and services in order to mitigate the safety and performance impact of adhesion.
- Lead the training and management of autumn controllers on behalf of the Control Manager be the single point of contact within the control environment for adhesion related issues throughout autumn.
You will ideally have
- An ability to work well under pressure in a rapidly evolving environment.
- Demonstrate leadership capability
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Able to demonstrate quantitative analysis skills
- Able to demonstrate good interpersonal and relationship building skills, including ability to challenge
- Proven ability to work to tight deadlines and mandated processes with a high level of accuracy
- A drive to deliver tangible outcomes which meet business requirements
- Able to demonstrate competent presentation skills
Desirable
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of business and safety case preparation
- Successful previous experience of managing people (indirectly or directly)
- Core understanding of railway seasonal implications and mitigation actions.
