This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the ANNP team, while we move into a new purpose built tertiary level 3 Neonatal intensive care Unit. The Senior ANNP will be an experienced ANNP who has completed the required competencies to fulfil the role and undertake the duties on the tier 2 medical rota.
The Senior ANNP role is a cutting-edge role in the field of neonatal nursing which straddles professional boundaries, undertaking traditional medical roles and leading the pathway in inter-professional practice to deliver high quality neonatal care including supporting families of babies within the neonatal service.
The Senior ANNP is a role model of excellence in the delivery of holistic care to babies on the Neonatal Unit (NNU), the Delivery Suites, Postnatal wards, Transitional Care and Outpatient areas. The post holder is required to deliver an advanced level of clinical practice within the field of neonatal care. Working within agreed protocols and guidelines at a tier 2 level, the Senior ANNP exercises independent judgement to assess, investigate, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate the clinical care and management of premature and sick babies and their families. The Senior ANNP will also supervise medics and ANNPs on the tier 1 rota. The Senior ANNP will take on line management duties of ANNPs on the tier 1 rota (band 8a). In addition, the post holder will be expected to contribute to the Risk and Governance portfolio of the neonatal unit.
