Senior and Principal Level Engineers, ideally with previous rail experience.

Following a successful start to Network Rail CP7, MHB Consultants Ltd. are looking for talented engineers to join our team.

About the Role:

Working with us, you will be responsible for the development of designs, calculations and drawings. You will also provide technical leadership and input into the design process. You will also manage and build relationships with clients, consultants and contractors, prepare fee proposals, attend project meetings, and undertake on-site visits / inspections.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

- 5-15 years’ relevant experience in a design environment.

- Experience working to Eurocodes and ideally Network Rail Standards.

- Experience undertaking a CRE role on Network Rail projects.

- Experience of some of the following structures - stations & buildings, geotechnical structures, bridges, tunnels, and design using various materials, e.g. concrete, steel, timber & masonry.

- Clean driving licence.

Technical Duties:

- A degree in engineering, ideally Chartered with the ICE or equivalent.

- Development of conceptual designs and producing engineering designs, drawings and reports in accordance with project requirements and ensure technical compliance.

- Checking of design calculations and drawings completed by other engineers to ensure technical compliance.

- Structural Calculations and analysis using tools such as LUSAS, MIDAS, STRAND, OASYS GSA or similar.

- Geotechnical calculations using tools such as Slope W, Settle 3, CADS Pile Suite, PILE, ALP, Kubla Cubed, or similar.

- Technical leadership/ input/ review role for design, assessment and other technical aspects.

- Attending meetings representing the design team.

- On site visits / structural inspections / investigations.

- The nature of the business is such that you would also be involved in the provision of design advice to the civil and geotechnical team as and when required.

Management Duties:

- Client liaison, business development, fee proposals / tenders.

- Operate as project manager for bid documentation and assist in building up proposals.

- Lead and manage projects ensuring deliverables meet contracted obligations,

- Financial management of projects including monitoring of project scoping and budgets.

- Manage and build relationships with clients, consultants and contractors.

- Mentor and develop less experienced team members to allow them to achieve their full potential.
