Brief Description

The E&P Senior Asset Engineer (Support) for the Southern Region plays a critical role in supporting the management of HV & DC Traction distribution infrastructure across one of the UK's busiest and most complex electrified networks. Working closely with the Route Head of Asset, this role delivers high-level systems engineering support, helping to maintain, renew, and improve the reliability and safety of HV & DC electrification assets. Covering Kent Route that serve millions of passengers each year, the role involves shaping maintenance regimes, informing asset condition and renewal strategies, and supporting the Southern Region’s commitment to operational excellence and engineering assurance.

About The Role (External)

What are we looking for:

  • Key responsibilities include providing technical leadership and guidance to delivery units across the Kent Route, monitoring the performance of HV & DC Traction distribution assets, and driving improvements through asset inspections, standards compliance reviews, and assurance activities.
  • The role also contributes to the development of route-specific asset management plans and supports incident investigations, playing a central role in ensuring infrastructure resilience.
  • By leading and influencing maintenance strategies and renewal proposals, the E&P Senior Asset Engineer (Support) ensures that the Southern Region continues to deliver safe, efficient, and high-performing railway services.


About You:

What you need:

Substantial technical experience in railway DC electrification infrastructure including design, maintenance and operations.

Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.

Incorporated Engineer status and membership of a relevant professional institution.

Substantial E&P engineering experience with knowledge of maintenance and technical standards.

It would be great if you :

Have relevant technical experience in railway AC electrification infrastructure.

Are a Chartered Engineer status and membership of a relevant professional institution .

Have experience in railway infrastructure and engineering assurance activities.

  • Salary: £55,596 - £63,797 dependent on skills and experience of successful candidate.
