Job Overview
This is a great opportunity for an existing audiologist to progress into a more senior role. We are looking for someone who will be able to work in and around the Shrewsbury area, specifically in the South of Shropshire.
Shropshire Audiology provides services for a population of 500.000 people where we see approximately 60,000 people in a year. We are proud to be able to offer a range of services to our patients such as Adult Hearing Aid work; ENT support; Paediatric Audiology; the Shropshire Auditory Implant Service; Hearing Therapy and Rehabilitation clinics; Tinnitus and Hyperacusis and Balance.
Shropshire NHS Audiology is IQIPS accreditation, so monitoring quality and developing our service is high on our agenda, we expect the post holder to be passionate about clinical quality.
Our service has a strong record of staff development, we believe that it is important to invest in our staff. This band 6 role is an opportunity for staff progression and to have a role in developing our complex adult work and a greater responsibility in clinic.
Main duties of the job
- To undertake all routine and non-routine audiological procedures, including direct referrals who are 18 years and over and make appropriate onward referrals where necessary.
- Our department serves a rural population therefore the post holder would be expected have a lead role in a community site ideally in the South Shropshire area. This presents the opportunity to be an autonomous practitioner and link to local services.
- Shropshire Audiology believes strongly in multidisciplinary working for the benefit of the patient, this role will involve diagnostic support for ENT, Social Services, local volunteer groups, education.
- To undertake fitting of digital hearing aids and provide patients with appropriate counselling and rehabilitation including individual management plans.
- The post holder would be involved in developing the complex adult service where we carry out diagnostic testing and provide in depth rehabilitation for this patient group. Previous knowledge and/or experience in complex clinics would be useful.
- This post will also require the post holder be involved in the adult service development which will involve carrying out departmental audits and implementing actions that arise.
- To work autonomously, with regard to good/best practice codes and guidelines. To have excellent communication skills and able to manage own time effectively and use own initiative to manage caseload.

The accommodation is fully furnished and within easy reach of the town centre, local schools, supermarkets and leisure facilities. Other existing Audiology staff live locally or commute to Shropshire from across the West Midlands.
