FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior AWS Data Engineer to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 5-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a fully remote role.
Our client is seeking a seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior AWS Data Engineer to support a key end client. This is an exciting opportunity for a data engineering professional who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys leading projects, and excels in stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and secure data pipelines and infrastructure on AWS
- Lead and mentor a junior team member, fostering high-quality delivery and professional growth
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions
- Engage with stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver actionable, data-driven insights
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data processes
- Optimise data workflows for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency
- Use Jira for effective task and project management
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Data Engineering role
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer with a strong focus on AWS cloud services (e.g., AWS Glue, S3, blob storage
- Proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with Scala is a plus
- Hands-on experience with data pipeline orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or AWS Step Functions
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor team members effectively
- Experience using Jira for task and project tracking
- Experience with Informatica for data integration and ETL processes
- Familiarity with data governance, compliance, and best practices
- Exposure to Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
