Brief Description
The post holder is responsible for analysing and developing the Digital Railway Programme’s business processes to improve control and flow of information to support the requirements of the Programme.
Eastern Routes Capital Programmes – Track Renewals are looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join our performance team. As an SBA you’ll develop and maintain a data repository utilised to drive a suite of concise but informative outputs, applying logical methodologies and your knowledge to the key factors, influencing performance to drive improvements in the rail industry through analytical, and statistical forecasting. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced ever-changing environment as they balance competing priorities to meet critical deadlines. They will be passionate about improvement. About The Role (External)
Key Accountabilities
- Act as the delegated design authority and work across stakeholder groups, to develop and deploy end to end corporate processes that support effective flow and control of information across the Digital Railway Programme.
- Develop unambiguous, complete and consistent programme-wide requirements specifications to support implementation and transition to new ways of working.
- Engage with stakeholders and relevant subject matter experts to identify, collate and understand the detailed business requirements behind an identified programme problem or opportunity.
- Analyse and document current processes, workflows and information exchanges to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and/or effectiveness of service.
- Analyse and interpret the impact new requirements will have on the programme and design and document the new business processes needed.
- Contribute to the development of plans and reporting processes, assess and escalate risks and issues as appropriate.
- Provide impact analysis of changes proposed with respect to the service, to consider the wider, end to end process impact.
- Promote the use of best practice tools and processes across the Digital Railway Programme.
- Relational data warehouse design and development to support reporting requirements.
- Influence key stakeholders to follow a unified approach to systems’ development and reporting.
- Challenge programmes on their project planning approach and performance.
- Update and create where necessary full process documentation for the track systems function and maintain knowledge transfer strategy with all new developments .
Essential
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Proven ability to review and edit requirements, specifications, processes and recommend solutions, stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
- Proven track record of defining and delivering business processes at an enterprise level.
- An ability to work well under pressure in a rapidly evolving environment
- Ability to work remotely and autonomously.
- Ability to tailor presentation styles to suit audience levels.
- Proficient use Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- In depth technical knowledge of Fabric / Azure / workflow/ SQL along with data architect abilities.
- Power Bi designer, configuration, report design and support.
- Advanced MS Office (including VBA)
- Comfortable to challenge seniority and existing processes.
Desirable
- Formal qualifications in Agile, ISEB and/or Project Management would be of interest.
- Detailed understanding of the railway industry, its key business processes and interfaces
- Ability to influence commercial and finance community.
- Ability to move between strategy, long term planning and the detail.
