Technip Energies and their partners have been awarded an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for the world’s first commercial scale gas-fired power stations with carbon capture. The construction site is located in the Tees Valley in the Northeast of England. UK Site. You be expected to travel to Paris initially for site visits, Fabrication facilities, Contractors offices before mobilizing to NZT site.
We are seeking a Senior Construction Manager to work closely with Project Directorate to ensure that construction activities on Site are performed in full compliance with UK standards, rules, regulations and industrial relations. You will report to the Project Directorate, with a functional reporting to the Technip Energies’ UKOC Management Team. You will work in close collaboration with the key stakeholders dedicated to the NZT Power project.
Job Purpose
- Act as advisor to the project directorate to ensure that all activities are performed in full compliance with UK standards, rules, regulations and industrial relations.
- Manage and monitor the correct implementation of the construction quality system during the construction phase.
- Ensure that all construction activities are executed and coordinated according to project strategies/plans, and that the scheduled targets are achieved.
- Ensure that an adequate Sustainability Program is put in place and complied with by TEN and its Subcontractor (BREEAM, Green Steel, use of Green Energies during Construction
- Ensure the effective safety and environmental coordination and cooperation between Contractor and Subcontractor / Suppliers.
Main Accountabilities
- Act as advisor to the project directorate to ensure that all activities are performed in full compliance with UK standards, rules, regulations and industrial relations.
- Ensure that an adequate Sustainability Program is put in place and complied with by TEN and its Subcontractor (BREEAM, Green Steel, use of Green Energies during Construction
- Interface with others HO departments, construction sites and Clients to create deliverables as requested by projects.
- Ensure that the project is planned, organized and executed in accordance with the Business Management System,
- Builds and maintains relationship with customer and other stakeholders
- associated with the Project (partners, subcontractors, vendors, local authorities …).
- Creates a quality and HSE oriented work climate that encourages client satisfaction and HSE consciousness among the project team
- Performs in depth review of the Contract, the tender and bid documents.
- Oversee the creation of organizational charts and mobilization schedules.
- Oversee the Production of construction execution plans and all other deliverables assigned to construction.
- Provide technical assistance and support including regular visits to construction site to audit and provide feedback.
- Assist in prequalification of subcontractors, including visits to current work sites and fabrication shops, regional surveys of industrial capability and infrastructure.
- Assist in estimating construction costs both direct and indirect.
- Lead and assist in the overview of site preparation, pre-construction and site enabling works.
- Ensure Construction Contractors' compliance with all applicable statutory requirements, such as CDM Regulations 2015 and any specific Client requirements.
- Frequent business trips to construction sites and Client offices.
- Demonstrate Leadership in HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) and understanding of HSE regulations in the UK including CDM Regulations 2015.
Requirements
- Fully conversant with UK construction management and execution, contracting strategies, construction planning, industrial relations, CDM, quality and turnover systems as well as construction health, safety, environmental and sustainability requirements.
- Proven experience of all aspects of UK construction management on both EPC, EPCm and alliance projects including contractor pre-qualification, contract strategy, selection of contractors, safety management, client co-ordination, work permit systems, shutdown management, QA/QC and associated documentation
- Extensive experience in industry, preferably on major UK projects in petrochemical, energy transition and related industries.
- HNC or Degree in a relevant engineering or construction subject.
- Good spatial awareness with a practical problem-solving mindset.
- Excellent skills in interpersonal relations, conflict resolution, communication, and leadership; possess strong presentation ability to address senior management, client management, and total project personnel with command.
- Previous construction experience in planning and preparation of construction execution
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fully familiar with interpretation of drawings, specifications and engineering procedures and model reviews.
- Contractually, commercially and technically astute.
- Fluent in writing and speaking English (UK)
- Safety ethic and personal sense of responsibility for the safety of others
- NEC contract exposure
- Understanding of UK National Agreements with trade unions
- Familiar with CDM regulations across design and construction phases
- Must be eligible to live/work in the UK
- CSCS card and SMSTS qualification
