Role details:
Responsible for the development and support of data solutions and services focusing on data integration, modelling, lakehouse, warehouse, transformation, quality and master data management. Data services implemented at Altrad are centred around Microsoft and Azure resource data at the core of data reporting services offered across the business. Altrad operate agile processes in work delivery and utilise CI/CD processes.
The role compromises the following activities
- Connecting multiple sources and types of data for ingestion or integration
- Implementing master data solutions between applications using an array of integration methods
- Transformation of multiple data sources/systems into curated and trusted datasets for use in reporting
- Re-using, refining and defining data solutions patterns supportable by Altrad
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and enhance the direction of the Altrad Data Solution Architecture in delivering data sets and updated data solutions
- Take the lead in the delivery of data solution development and support tasks
- Coach and mentor junior members of the team
- Assessment of updated processes and systems to create and update data solutions and data sets
- Integration of M/A inherited solutions for provision of insights and alignment of data sets across data models
- Supporting clients (within the Oil, Gas and Nuclear) business with their integration and reporting challenges as required.
- Liaise with software vendors in the provision on bidirectional interfacing for master data and the extraction of data for reporting purposes.
- Resolve data integrity, quality and robustness challenges with legacy / system data to enhance reporting
- Develop and update process maps, data solution topology diagrams and maintain good documentation on the configuration of data solution processes.
General Duties & Responsibilities
- Drive Excellence though effective and efficient use of systems.
- Understand and document business requirements over the short, medium and longer term.
- Consult through lesson learned sessions with End Users, Key users and Process Owners to ensure that functionality and configuration meets evolving business requirements
- To develop and maintain consistent solutions across our approved application suite.
- Maintain confidentiality with sensitive data/information
- Build and maintain workflows and process automation
- Support other Data Engineers, Data Analysts and leads in digital transformation projects.
Key Requirements:
- Experience in a Data Engineer role
- Experience with Microsoft and Azure, and related technology such as SQL Server, ADF, Logic Apps, Data Lake, Power Query, Fabric, Function Apps, Power Automate, Spark, Data Bricks, SSIS to undertake complex integrations
- Experience in delivering data solution patterns and data modelling appropriate to the problem such as Normalisation, Kimball
- Significant experience and understanding of SQL based data solutions development and experience of languages such as Python or C#
- Experience in low code related technologies such as SharePoint, Power Apps, Power Automate, Nintex
- Experience in the role of a DBA or related activities is desirable in understanding performance tuning and administration processes
- Relevant further qualification in the data analytics related field
- Strong technical acumen and the ability to analyse complex situations and effectively solve problems and drive an excellence culture.
- Understanding of GDPR and good practice of complex data management
- Strong communication skills and able to effectively work with varying stakeholders
- Pragmatic approach, able to balance the ideal with the reality of what is needed today.
- Demonstrable ability to thrive in a complex, rapidly changing and demanding Globally integrated (but not centralised) business environment
- Experience / knowledge of the Agile Scrum development methodology and CI/CD processes
- Experience of Business Central, iTrent, SharePoint Online Office 365 is desired but not essential.
- Experience working in an Engineering / Construction / Maintenance industry would be beneficial but not essential.
