Purpose of Role:
- Assurance of BU economic models to inform strategic decision making, investment analysis and business planning
- Management of organic project metrics and ranking for capital allocation
- Conduct the Strategy/M&A team on economic modelling and assurance of International fiscal arrangements
Critical Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures
Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required
Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:
- Perform functional economics assurance of Group assured projects and investments
- Prepare and maintain the Business Management System (BMS) documents surrounding Economics
- Maintain a central hub for project metrics, recording the key changes of economics model for Group assured projects and investments.
- Conduct the look-back exercise at the decision gates
- Deliver the ranking for project metrics for capital allocation purposes
- Prepare presentations suitable for senior leadership
- Complete the review of economic modelling in annual reserves certification process interface and reconciliation of asset cases held in Corporate model, with Subsurface and external auditor profiles
- Undertake ad-hoc economic analysis using discounted cash flow models to evaluate the feasibility and profitability of oil, gas and other investment projects, including exploration, development, production, decommissioning, carbon abatement and carbon capture and storage
- Provision of scenario analysis and other insights/analysis for ESG reporting and CDP returns
- Coordinate Business Unit economics teams in performing commercially sound, accurate, repeatable, and fit-for-purpose economic analysis for investment opportunities and key business decisions
- Provide model assurance to the strategic and financial team and prepare analysis for discrete projects
- Any other reasonable duty as per instruction by your manager
Critical Skills:
- A relevant core discipline qualification (mathematics/finance/economics/technical)
- Experience in financial modelling, investment analysis, or corporate finance, preferably within the oil and gas industry
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights
- Genuine and proven interest in the energy sector with a keen understanding of data analytics, dashboards, and analytics solutions to monitor performance
- In depth and hands on knowledge of Excel and economic modelling software
- Strong PowerPoint skills, with the ability to produce first-pass presentations suitable for senior leadership
- An overall understanding of the oil and gas exploration, appraisal, development and production cycle including typical costs and production profiles
- Understanding of oil and gas projects together with the fiscal terms and the commercial arrangements
- Communicate effectively and appropriately
- Ability to multi-task and performance in a deadline driven environment
- Meticulous attention to detail and keen to work with databases
- Team player with the ability to work closely with other disciplines for integrated evaluations in all areas
