This role covers LV, HV & EHV capital investment projects of ~£10/anum managed through a team of project managers, coordinators, and support roles. Example programmes area mixture of asset replacement, refurbishment and reinforcement including both Substation & Circuits Modernisation. Delivery of this plan includes effective utilisation of both internal delivery resources and management of our service partners.
This role reports to the district Head Of Delivery.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will be responsible to deliver district outputs in line with financial, regulatory, and business plan objectives whilst optimising various allowances ensuring network resilience is maintained and a robust asset strategy policy is delivered. The role is a primarily a capital programme delivery installing new electrical assets on the network, managing a small, multi-disciplined team and external service partners.
Support and provide input to the district strategic planning & budgeting processes with both Head of Delivery and Head of Planning & Network
Improvement roles and ensuring timely & accurate project forecasts. Regular input into district performance reviews showing a clear understanding of programme position, volumes, spend, risks & efficiency.
Integrate asset stewardship values through sound engineering principles, coordinated planning and delivery activities to improve integrity, safety and longevity of the electrical network while promoting an exemplary safety culture and ensures that all safety legislation is implemented and delivered through all activities.
Lead the integration of Operational Excellence principles in all undertakings, taking responsibility for the quality and financial assurance of projects delivered by the team and ensuring contractors deliver to the required standards, performance, cost & safety as expected on our frameworks.
Ensure the accurate and timely capture and recording of data within corporate systems and ensuring excellent housekeeping across the team for all corporate data actions.
What You’ll Bring
- Knowledge of the regulatory environment including relevant output and incentive mechanisms.
- Experience in project management and project delivery.
- General contract, commercial and regulatory awareness.
- Ability to make decisions based on technical and non-technical factors impacting assets, customers and consideration for safety.
- Effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management.
- Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgement to determine optimal & prioritised solutions.
- Awareness and understanding of key business drivers and business strategy, both for now and in the near future.
- Ability to devise solutions to problems / challenges.
Minimum Criteria
- Engineering/Professional qualification or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in the delivery & project management of engineering projects, ideally including both planned & reactive works.
- Experience & understanding of network design & operation, safety rules and operational policies & procedures.
- Computer literacy.
- Current UK driving licence (Travel required).
