Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Estimator to work in our Energy Sector to support efforts in work winning and delivery across our 3 core market segments: Resilience, Connectivity and Transition.
The role will vary between being the sole estimator on smaller bids for Front End Studies and FEED and as part of a wider team for large Projects and Programmes, ensuring that a robust cost estimate is developed integrated with all other facets required to create a Performance Measurement Baseline – Scope, Schedule, Risk, Commercial, Finance, Engineering and Project Management.
Reporting into the Sector Lead Estimator, previous experience and understanding of estimating in the Energy sector is required to be able to work autonomously where required.
This role will require 3 days a week in our Manchester or Aberdeen offices . Limited travel anticipated only to meet project teams and clients
Responsibilities
- Development of multi-discipline estimates at all stages of a project lifecycle, ensuring alignment and robustness, across a variety of sub-sector markets e.g. plant modifications, green and brownfield and onshore and offshore
- Development of the estimate in line with agreed integrated work and cost breakdown structures and planned methodology
- Lead on the development of estimating strategies and present to senior stakeholders both internal and external.
- Preparation of quantities from drawings and specifications including liaison with engineering disciplines as required. The documents are received in formats which include P&ID’s, Process flow Diagrams (PFD’s), plant layout drawings and 3D Models.
- Preparation of analytical estimates for design, materials, and construction.
- Contribution to the development of the integrated performance measurement baseline (PMB).
- Ensuring costs included for each tender fully reflect the technical and commercial scope of each tender. The tenders must be prepared to the deadlines given by the client.
- Rate calculations for Consultancy bids. Calculating Cost to Employ (CTE) of the required rates. Calculating rates using contractor rates and ensuring all allowances are included in the rates for the employment of the individuals.
- Pricing discipline man hours estimates based on grade splits. Understand the different grades of each team and discipline.
- Benchmarking of hours/costs from previous projects.
Qualifications
- Degree level qualified or equivalent in a mechanical or electrical engineering related discipline.
- Experienced in estimating medium to large energy projects such as oil and gas, utilities, pharmaceuticals and nuclear.
- Experienced in estimating at all project lifecycle stages, Concept, Study, FEED and detailed design. Using both parametric and bottom-up estimating methods.
- Knowledge and experience of estimating techniques and methods for concept estimates and detail bottom-up Knowledge of project scheduling and planning.
- Proficient user in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience of using Aspen Capital Cost Estimator would be beneficial
