About the role

Balfour Beatty has been selected by Rolls-Royce as its construction partner to support the expansion of its Raynesway site in Derby, and we are now looking for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor to join the team.

The Senior Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor will support the project by driving HSW performance and providing effective, high-quality advice to meet—and where possible, exceed—operational requirements, while supporting the Head of HSW and HSW Manager in achieving Zero Harm objectives.

This is a full time site based role.

What you'll be doing

  • Implement Project Zero Harm strategy through visible leadership to drive the
delivery of the Zero Harm Action Plan.
  • Provide project teams with expert HSW technical advice, guidance and
    support.
  • Collaboratively engage with both internal & external customers and the supply
chain to promote zero harm delivery.
  • In conjunction with operational management complete a local and bespoke risk-
based Service Level Agreement with each project which is kept under quarterly
review to provide assurance that the project is compliant with HSW
    requirements.
  • Undertake regular site inspections and produce formal reports using the Project
    Portal to record HSW inspections.
  • Undertake regular checks on Health and Safety Risk Management highlighting
    risks and opportunities.
  • Provide expert support to investigate accidents, incidents and near miss events
in accordance with Balfour Beatty Group Standards and company requirements.
  • Produce and deliver project specific HSW Training material
  • Liaise with client and delivery partner HSW teams daily, ensuring clear
communication of the SMS across the project
  • Lead and deliver on project wide HSW campaigns
  • Report monthly project HSW statistics, ensuring compliance with project
    specific HSW KPI’s
  • Engage and develop relationships with design & engineering teams to eliminate
and reduce HSW risk through design.
  • Challenge the norm by innovating and improving the way we work, whilst
keeping pace with industry change and promote successes.
  • Provide support and mentoring to other HSW colleagues in their development.

Who we're looking for

The following qualities/experience are essential:

  • Relevant H&S Diploma, NVQ or Degree (or equivalent level 6 qualification).
