The Role;

As the Group’s operations grow in footprint and complexity, Group Risk is expanding its Model Risk Management Validation function. LSEG’s Model Risk has oversight of a diverse array of model types across all asset classes. For the term of the contract, Senior Manager will work on conducting the validation and independent review of Pricing and Risk models across LSEG to provide independent assurance that the covered models are fit for purpose. Key areas of coverage are:

  • Pricing suite of models across multiple asset classes with focus on Equity/FX/Commodity within Post Trade (Solutions – Acadia), D&A (Price-It library)
  • Margining suite of models for Post Trade (LCH Ltd and LCH SA)

Tasks / Responsibilities

  • Model validation lead with focus on Pricing (Equity/FX/Commodities focus) and Initial Margin models
  • Lead pricing model validation underlying key libraries,
  • Review and validate models and products across Post Trade (Solutions – Acadia, LCH Ltd and LCH SA – Margining) and D&A (Price-It library).
  • Assess mathematical and technical considerations in models and quantitative methods,
  • Identify and escalate risks and issues in the assessed models,
  • Effectively document the testing and conclusions (validation report that includes the issues)

Development of the Junior Quant Team

  • Support model specific knowledge build-up,
  • Provide oversight of the validation progress for the assigned projects.

Model management

  • Support all work related to pricing and initial margin models for senior Committees,
  • Communicate to senior management key risks identified as part of the validation.

Model governance support

  • Liaise with Pricing/Post Trade senior mgmt. and senior Pricing/Post Trade developers on validation-related topics for models covered,

Assess and quantify effective controls, ensure adequate testing that certifies closure of issues by the business.

Skills / Experience

  • PhD or MS degree in Applied Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, Physics, Engineering or similar years’ experience in a Model Validation, Front Office Quant, or Risk Quant role in Equity, FX or Commodity products,
  • Extensive quant experience with pricing or market risk models,
  • Good coding skills within a professional environment (Python, R, C/C++),
  • Knowledge of initial margin or value at risk / expected shortfall models and CCP regulatory environment,
  • Theoretical understanding and familiarity with Equity, FX or Commodity pricing models,
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, good attention to detail, solid writing skills,
  • Consistently delivers on commitments and has a collaborative mindset.
