What You'll Do
As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, developing standards and creative engineering solutions across site. Working with all levels of the business you will directly identify innovative solutions required to meet strategic business and sustainability goals, managing from concept to delivery, further enhancing the Hazelwood vision as a center of excellence.
As a senior figure within the Facility Management Services team you will support a talented multi disciplined team support site, they are at the heart of what we do, key to our success, you will develop and mentor individuals, fostering an environment where they can excel, identifying development opportunities that add value to individual and team delivery.
Job Summary
Joining our team you will lead a number of high priority fire safety projects that will maintain Hazelwood’s emergency response capability.
You will also develop the sites future CapEx portfolio roadmap identifying future investment projects that will support the sites operational and strategic objectives.
You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing and enhance modern life.
As a safety ambassador you will have extensive experience in contractor management within project and maintenance environments. Working with a safety focus you will support the team to manage the upkeep of our 8000+ assets, including safety critical equipment, ensuring maintenance and compliance obligations across site are met in full.
Developing standards, procedures and maintaining documentation, you will support an open knowledge sharing environment, Mentoring individuals to align practices and approaches, whilst ensuring site information is maintained, accurate and up to date.
As a design authority and Subject Matter Expert, you will influence and shape the mechanical landscape across site, acting as signatory within the organisation’s Management of Change process, reviewing, advising and approving Mechanical changes to infrastructure, ensuring changes are carefully considered.
What We're Looking For
- Ensure asset maintenance and compliance obligations are satisfied in full across site.
- Develop and maintain long term strategic plans, which consider future business needs, Government policies and corporate commitments to sustainability drivers.
- Develop, mentor and support individual team members, fostering an environment where individuals flourish.
- Work closely with Managers and project sponsors across site to develop and manage project initiation through to successful delivery and handover.
- Build relationships to develop long term partnerships with external providers, project sponsors, business leaders and site management.
- Project manage aspects of the long-term plans and / or specific projects as identified in site strategic plan.
- Work closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the projects.
- Develop and maintain documentation and work plans, monitoring results and adjusting plans to ensure success and achievement of outcome.
- Understand the financial requirements of projects, preparing budgets, forecasting, scheduling expenditure, analysing variances and initiating corrective actions to manage costs.
- Recommends and implements changes that contribute to an increase in operational reliability and performance of services, assets and processes.
- Identify, monitor and manage End of Life strategies for Key plant and equipment to maintain site business continuity.
- To carry out all duties and projects to meet health and safety requirements, comply with legislation and company procedures to ensure safety of all.
Skills That Make a Difference
- Educated to degree level in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience of working in a similar Senior Engineering position.
- Have extensive knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety and Legislation that applies to Mechanical systems, building regulations and Construction Design Management.
- Experienced communicator and influencer, preparing and delivering presentations to all levels of the business, building compelling business cases, securing support and future investment for work that is identified
- Experience of working with financial processes – budgeting, costing and tenders, cost management and project reporting.
- Possess strong project management skills.
- SAP experience.
- Experienced project practitioner, managing multiple projects at varying stages of the project life cycle, maintaining a focus on cost, time and quality.
- Good IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBi, Project).
