Our trust wide Specialist Neurosciences rotation currently has a vacancy for a 12 month fixed term position within the Acute and Hyperacute Stroke Team, PLUS other fixed term opportunites within the wider Physiotherapy team at Imperial.

Our physiotherapists are an integral part of the multi-disciplinary teams across the trust, and as a successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to provide high quality physiotherapy to patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions. You will be able to develop and deliver an individualised treatment programmes whilst growing your specialist experience and leadership skills in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Each specialty has support of both band 7 & 8 Clinical therapists to support your clinical and professional development in addition to your peer group with regular peer support meetings and buddy system to support your transition into the trust. We actively support CPD through an established performance development review (PDR) system, in-service training and external courses. There are also opportunities to undertake formal postgraduate study.

  • To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to patients in all service areas.
  • To acquire and demonstrate knowledge of relevant pathologies, conditions, normal values relating to the specialist area of physiotherapy.
  • To be responsible for own caseload and be responsible within a defined area of the service and to undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
  • To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including management of patients in your care.
  • To undertake a comprehensive assessment and re-assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentation.
  • To plan and prioritise own caseload independently on a day-to-day basis to ensure patients are appropriately seen, in conjunction with the priorities of the team and to give assistance to other team members as required.
  • To be flexible in the organisation of own caseload and to respond to predictable and unpredictable service needs throughout the day.
  • To undertake the measurement and evaluation of your own work and current practice through the use of projects, audit or outcome measures, whether individually or with the support of senior staff.
  • To assist in the induction, daily supervision and delegation of tasks to band 5 physiotherapists, therapy support workers, students and administrative staff, as required.
