Job Description

As Senior Piping Designer you will be providing Plant Layout and Piping Design resource across a range of diverse projects, using the very latest CAD and Digital technology. Our new projects include Carbon Capture and Hydrogen Generation, Storage and Distribution from Concept, FEED, Detail Design, Construction and Commissioning. This role is based 3 days a week in Manchester

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all aspects of plant layout and piping design deliverables to the highest of standards. This includes, 3D models, isometrics, general arrangements, plot plans & pipe support details.
• Undertake general 2D drafting (P&ids etc) on an ad-hoc basis when project demand requires it.
• Checking of other designers work in accordance with Company Procedures.
• Reporting to the lead engineer, feeding into design progress reports, raising issues & highlighting scope change.
• Review and commenting of vendor information to incorporate into the design
• To liaise and coordinate with other disciplines as required.
• Prepare models and contribute towards Model Reviews, articulating the reasons for the proposed design.
• Supporting the section leader with necessary reports, visualisations, 4D schedules, MTOs, bids etc.
• With respect to software and day to day activities, report back to the Discipline manger comments and recommendations for continuous improvements in performance and removal of constraints.
• Undertake site surveys as required
• To offer advice and support to Junior Designers and/or subordinates on personal and career development.
• To be aware of legal and organisational responsibilities regarding Health, Safety Sustainability and Environmental issues with respect to employees, contractors, clients and third parties, ensuring that activities are all managed in accordance with Company policy and client requirements
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC or equivalent qualification in Engineering.
• Significant Piping Design & Plant Layout experience within the Oil & Gas, Nuclear and Energy sectors.
• Undertaking Front End Layout, site surveys, brownfield modifications, through to AFC deliverables.
• Must have a sound understanding of plant layout principles, whilst considering safety, operations, maintenance & constructability.
• Appreciation of Major Design Codes Including ASME B31.3/B31.1 and UK legislation and standards.
• Interpreting stress reports to incorporate into the piping design.
• Conducting checking of deliverables to appropriate standards, specifications etc
• Multi discipline liaison.
• Exceptional CAD skills, fully conversant with Aveva E3D Modelling and Draw, use of Laser point cloud data, Navisworks manage and AutoCAD
• Participation in models reviews and subsequent closing out of actions raised.
