Location:

Purpose of Role:

The Senior IS Products Engineer is a key role within Harbour Energy IS Products and is responsible for leading the development and maintenance of relevant IS product portfolio, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet customer needs.

  • Supporting bespoke solutions within the product line to meet business requirements.
  • Supporting the lifecycle of software applications, from deployment ongoing support and decommissioning activities.
  • The role works with appropriate teams and 3rd party vendors to ensure the integrity of Harbour Energy’s platforms and services.
  • Ensuring applications are secure, reliable, and compliant with industry regulations.

  • Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures

Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required

Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:

  • Provide technical support for solutions in M365 development technologies e.g. Power Platform, Power BI, Data Verse, addressing any issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Work closely with Data & Digital team to implement minor modifications and enhancements to bespoke solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting and resolving complex product issues.
  • Oversee the lifecycle of assigned applications, including planning, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Seeks opportunities to innovate and improve solution development processes and technologies.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure the applications delivered meet their needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver product requirements as per agreed roadmaps.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor solution performance, identifying and resolving issues to ensure optimal functionality and user satisfaction.
  • Utilises performance metrics to improve system stability and monitor and report on capacity metrics.
  • Liaise with software vendors and service providers as required for application lifecycle support.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • The role is responsible for the creation and maintenance of operational documentation (incl. processes, procedures, design & configuration, and operating manuals).
  • Develop documentation for end-users and IS&D staff, ensuring applications are used effectively.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement best practices in application security to protect company data and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Health and Safety Environment: Ensure that application development and management activities comply with health and safety standards and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including presentations and reports.

Critical Skills:

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in application development languages and frameworks, as well as knowledge of software architecture and design principles.
  • Solid working knowledge in M365 development technologies e.g. Power Platform, Power BI, Data Verse.
  • Familiarity with Data engineering e.g. Azure development, Python.
  • Relevant Experience: Proven experience in software application development and management, ideally within the oil and gas industry or a similar complex operational environment.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a focus on maintaining practical and efficient application solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Vendor Management Skills: Manage relationships with external vendors to ensure timely delivery of services. Evaluate vendor performance and provide feedback to ensure quality standards are met. Coordinate with vendors to resolve any issues or discrepancies promptly.
  • Backlog Management: Create and maintain Agile backlog to guide work planning and execution. Experience working in Agile methodology such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives. Collaborate with stakeholders to refine and prioritise backlog items based on business value and feasibility.
