BAM UK & I are looking for a Senior Project Accountant to that can be based from any of our UK & I offices working on a hybrid basis


Your mission

Delivery of efficient and effective operational financial management in support of the overall strategy and performance objectives of the PFI Lifecycle Projects.

Operate as a key member of the Lifecycle and Finance, and wider finance community.

Provide comprehensive, high quality analysis to aid and support business decision making.

Ensure that Group and Segment specific financial and commercial procedures and policies are complied with.

Responsible for Lifecycle financial planning and reporting.



Leadership Support – build relationships and improve collaboration with lifecycle leadership teams & operations and commercial (Commercial assistants & QS) teams.

Demonstrating strong understanding of project financial performance and associated key project risks & opportunities.

Reporting and Analysis – develop and maintain reporting to support business decisions and risk mitigation, key areas being P&L and cash. Ensure Management reporting activities are aligned with organization goals and objectives across the sector.

Provide accurate and accessible management information for all key stakeholders with a range of daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports. Including clients with accurate spend forecasts for budget management purposes.

Lifecycle forecast reporting and reconciliations and preparation for quarterly forecast sign-off meetings.

Lifecycle surplus revenue recognition and reporting.

Financial Reviews – providing challenge and support as part of the Senior Leadership during project reviews & monthly and quarterly financial reviews.

Month End – achievement of month-end deadlines demonstrating accurate accounting records and internal controls. Ensure strict adherence to revenue recognition policy and processes throughout.

Budgeting and Forecasting – timely and accurate completion of budgets and forecasts with comprehensive trend and KPI analysis including management of financial risk and opportunity registers.

Cash management – co-ordinate lifecycle cash flow forecasts with monthly WIP and debt reviews to improve/maintain working capital. Support applications for payment and end to end O2C activities.

Financial Modelling & Bids - work closely with key business partners and lifecycle managers to create and maintain key financial models.

Process improvements – support system integrations and automation to enhances processes e.g. reduction of PO reconciliations and information gathering for applications.

PO reconciliations and tracking where manual intervention is required whilst improving / automating future processes.

Co-ordinate Lifecycle audit requirements.

Wider Support - manage or co-ordinate end to end O2C, P2P and R2R activities within the area to ensure best practice is embedded. Closely support and manage project administration staff.

Adhoc activities to support work winning or delivery of the area’s strategic and operational objectives.


Who are we looking for?

Finance Professional.

Qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA [PQ accepted when evidence of ongoing recent study and clear plan to become qualified in near future].

Experience of finance roles in large complex projects or frameworks.

Very good knowledge of sector related markets and regulatory environment.

Some experience of supporting and influencing alongside management & leadership teams in developing & delivering to strategy & business plans.

Very good understanding of the management systems, policies and processes that underpin a successful large complex enterprise. Ensures 100% compliance with systems and processes. Challenges for improvement.

Some experience of developing strong internal and external relationships to drive individual and business performance.

Experience of functional roles within large complex projects and programmes.

Awareness of the political, business and economic issues affecting customers and the market.

Demonstrates an understanding of pricing, programme & cost management and negotiation, customers' needs around fees, and debt management. Can explain contractual terms to others, understands and acts on KPIs.
