About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a flexible and passionate team at the heart of building resilience to future threats and hazards.
You will help us lead and coordinate the Council’s emergency response; working alongside other services, resilience partners, and the community. Lead on emergency planning, workshops, embed resilience in the organisation through training, exercising, and business continuity programmes. You will also have the opportunity to have your say on projects you are interested in which could include community resilience, risk assessment, counter-terrorism, or public health.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In
- The Resilience Team is a small but dedicated team with a big role in the organisation. Sat within Digital, IT, and Resilience where we proactively engage with the organisation and our community to prepare for and respond to incidents from fires, flood, cyber-incidents, or the next global pandemic.
- Responding to incidents is central to what we do: By day you will inspire and motivate others to understand risk and be collaborate and lead on planning, recruiting emergency response volunteers, training, and exercising to build organisation and community resilience. By night you could coordinating and advising colleagues at the scene of major incidents as part of our 24/7 response structure. For this you will receive additional training and pay, but your dedication and enthusiasm will ensure our residents receive the care and support they require, and whom we serve.
- This role is about collaborating, relationship building, and effective project managing to deliver corporate objectives and Resilience Standards for London. You will represent the Resilience Team with key stakeholders and bring together colleagues from across the Council, Borough and London Resilience Forum, multiagency partners, community, faith, voluntary, and businesses.
We would welcome any colleagues from other resilience positions to join as a secondment, where you could bring in fresh perspective on how we do things, or take back learning to your own team.
About You
- Demonstrates commitment to colleagues, team objectives, and collaborative working, through listening, involving, respecting, and learning. You are self-reflective, committed to professional development, and actively look to improve their own practice and supports others to do the same.
- You can work flexibly on a range of emergency planning and other projects as part of a busy and varied team, using own initiative and organise workload to meet multiple deadlines, and support junior officers to deliver their work priorities.
- Works to the highest standards, highly accurate, able to sustain focus, and attention to detail.
- Adaptable, flexible, able to cope with change, demonstrating resilience to pressure and always retaining a professional nature.
- You can use research and data and are able to demonstrate innovative solutions and problem-solving skills to measure the impact and success of a new programme.
- You can demonstrate your ability as a senior officer to develop excellent and effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and senior leaders, showing how you have implemented with them strategic and tactical solutions in service delivery.
Qualifications:
- Education to degree, or equivalent level qualification in Emergency Planning or relevant subject area, or demonstrable equivalent previous experience and evidence of professional development in Resilience and Emergency Planning sector.
- You must be a competent user of Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- You will need to demonstrate good written and proficient research and analytical skills.
