Successful candidates will join a state-of-the-art facility and be supporting the team conducting testing and research on the latest technologies and innovations in the industry. You will work alongside our infrastructure and Cybersecurity professionals to ensure that the UK’s world class Telecoms infrastructure grows in a resilient and secure manner underpinning growth in other industry sectors.
As a trusted and independent national capability, UKTL interacts with standards bodies, Academia, and Government Departments as well as Communications Service Providers and equipment vendors.
Successful Applicants must be able to commute to the UKTL offices in Birmingham with the possibility of hybrid working.

About You
You will have had experience within a security function particularly designing, implementing and managing the requirements of a secure facility. You have worked as part of a wider team but can also manage and co-ordinate your own workload. What’s more you will be pragmatic, highly organised, detail-focussed and a good communicator. Beyond that, we’re looking for someone who’ll thrive in an environment like ours.
Essential Skills Include,
- The ability to develop operational procedures to address gaps in security performance in line with the security strategy.
- Able to manage high security environments, including the provision of callout response.
- To maintain security awareness and culture
- To provide governance and oversight of physical security standards to NPL’s secure critical assets.
Experience of designing physical security infrastructure into secure facilities and implementing appropriate security procedures. Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management. Strong organisational skills, able to work towards deadlines and balance conflicting priorities. Must have or be able to obtain level of security clearance appropriate to the role. Membership of DISA or Membership of Security Institute Hold a vocational qualification such as CSMP or ASIS CPP.
