The Role


Senior Engineers at MVF leverage their technical expertise to tackle complex, customer-centric challenges, collaborating with skilled teams to deliver effective solutions swiftly.


From day one, you'll be an active participant in code reviews and daily standups, engaging in discussions about delivery, architecture, and software design for current and upcoming projects. Working alongside fellow engineers, you will develop high-performance code and address intricate technical problems, supporting the growth of other team members and strengthening overall team capability.


Once you have experienced your first few sprints, you will take on the Epic Conductor role, a rotating responsibility within the team. You will take ownership of Epics, leading them through technical discovery, refinement, and delivery through close and effective collaboration with Product, Stakeholders, and fellow Engineers.


As a Senior Engineer at MVF, you will contribute to the design, development, and deployment of key software applications integral to MVF's operations and success. You will apply your analytical skills to troubleshoot complex technical challenges, optimize system performance, and ensure the reliability and scalability of our engineering solutions. Your expertise will be crucial in building and maintaining robust systems that support our business objectives and drive innovation. You will collaborate with the wider engineering team to implement best practices, collaborate to share engineering knowledge and contribute to architectural decisions.

Responsibilities:


  1. Working with team members at all levels to discuss, design and build software
  2. Working with stakeholders, product and engineering as Epic Conductor, guiding the discovery, refinement and delivery of an Epic.
  3. Taking ownership of requirements to deliver well-tested software, and advising on alternative solutions when appropriate.
  4. Working with business teams to identify & solve issues with existing software
  5. Contributing to improving the tools and processes of the team, whether our CI, testing, architecture or other elements of the ways we work.
  6. Engaging with the wider engineering and technical team to make MVF a better place to work


What Success Looks Like:


  • Consistently delivering high-quality, tested code on schedule and according to specifications with a minimum of bugs.
  • Regular engagement with the product management team to proactively identify, discuss, and contribute to solutions and features.
  • Taking ownership of feature delivery from planning through deployment and monitoring.
  • Working closely with other Senior and Lead Engineers to plan and contribute to effective architectural solutions.
  • Engaging in standups, planning sessions and other agile ceremonies with the engineering team
  • Contributing to the growth of the team by supporting less senior engineers and sharing knowledge


Our Ideal MVFer will have:


  • A proven track record in commercial full-stack software development
  • Expert-level skills with React and TypeScript
  • Experience delivering production systems using Node.js
  • A strong problem-solving mindset, with a desire to deeply understand complex domains
  • A collaborative approach to engineering within diverse teams
  • Familiarity with Agile/Lean development practices and continuous improvement
  • The ability to balance technical quality with business priorities
  • A strong focus on task management and reliable delivery


Bonus points for:


  • Proficiency in another programming language
  • A track record of leading technical exploration of complex features and translating them into refined, team-ready development tasks
  • Experience with AWS-based deployments
  • Exposure to architectural decision-making
  • Experience with MySQL or similar relational databases
  • A history of helping teammates develop their skills and confidence, contributing to a stronger and more capable engineering team
