You'll execute survey workscopes, provide technical assistance to vessels, and operate on a 3-week rotational schedule with 12-hour shifts. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a 24/7 high-tech hub, directly connected to offshore operations.
The Role
The Surveyor will be responsible for the successful execution of survey workscopes from the Remote Operations Centre (ROC), conducting project operations and provide technical support and assistance as required to vessels across the region. Located in Aberdeen, Fugro's Remote Operations Centre provides a centralised resilient location with direct access to offshore projects 24/7. The role operates on a 12-hour shift on a 3 week rotational basis.
Your Role And Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Remote Operations Centre Manager, the Senior Surveyor will liaise with the Survey Supervisor, ROC Superintendent and work with other ROC staff, Offshore staff, Project Managers, Clients, Project Teams and third-party suppliers to oversee effective and efficient completion of project work scopes. Additionally, you may be expected to collaborate with other Remote Operations Centres, Innovation teams and key suppliers globally. You'll be involved in the following and more
- Running and keeping an eye on survey software and sensor systems remotely, making sure everything’s calibrated and the data is accurate.
- Staying in regular contact with offshore teams and remote sites, offering clear and helpful support when needed.
- Helping roll out remote operations solutions across Fugro and partner platforms—your input will help shape how we work.
- Keeping documentation, survey logs, and vessel details up to date so handovers are smooth and nothing gets missed.
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Keeping your skills sharp by staying up to date with the latest tools, software, and techniques in remote survey operations.
What You’ll Need To Thrive In This Role
- You’ll take the lead on delivering remote survey workscopes, making sure everything runs smoothly and data is delivered accurately and on time.
- You’ll work closely with our internal teams, clients, and third-party partners to keep projects on track and aligned with expectations.
- You’ll have a hand in shaping the future of remote operations—spotting opportunities for improvement, testing new ideas, and helping document best practices.
- You’ll make sure everything meets our high standards for data quality and stays in line with QHSSE and operational procedures.
