Job Overview
Lead and execute systems engineering activities within the associated Domain / Capability, delivering high-quality solutions for asset and transformation projects, ensuring alignment with performance, operational, and safety standards, and driving delivery to time, cost, and quality targets
Other Duties Include
- Requirements and Design Management: Lead the development, validation, and management of requirements, interfaces, and system design proposals
- Systems Engineering Leadership: Lead the engineering deliverables for project(s) and/or asset(s) ensuring these meet stakeholder needs which contribute to the delivery of work packages, and manage technical teams
The role has significant autonomy to define scope, allocate resources, and ensure task execution, within the boundaries of NATS processes, working with the Domain / Capability Lead for Contract approval.
- Co-ordination: Lead engagement with Project teams to define and agree on technical requirements, timescales, plans, and critical elements impacting the execution of work packages
- Requirements and Design: Responsible for Eliciting, analysing, reviewing technical requirements and documentation to determine optimal solutions
- Technical Expertise: Manage the provision of technical expertise, and support resolution of operational issues where appropriate
Essential Skills and Experience
- The post holder is expected to hold, as a minimum, a Higher National Certificate in an Engineering or Information Technology related discipline, and relevant experience. Job holders not holding the expected qualification but who have undertaken structured technical training (e.g. apprenticeship recognised by a professional body) with recognised qualification ideally to at least HNC equivalent level will also be considered
- Proven experience in systems engineering, managing large work packages, and leading technical teams within aviation or safety-critical systems
- Good breadth of technical knowledge across the Domain / Capability, discipline and experience gained from working in a technology delivery environment, preferably within a real time, safety related industry, and desirable to have knowledge of all relevant and appropriate national and international technical standards
- Strong leadership, requirements management, system engineering lifecycle, safety assurance, ability to motivate, coach and develop members of the team
Additional Vacancy Information
This role is to support asset sustainment and transformation projects within the Flight Data Domain, including systems within Flight Data, Visualisation, Queue Management, Capacity Management, Separation Tooling, Datalink, Trajectory & Flow Management
Systems engineering experience within delivery/maintenance of Flight Data systems is desirable
