The Investment Operations Division keeps clients' assets safe by mitigating risk and overseeing fund administrator, custodian and manager activity. By enabling investment teams, they support SJP’s growth and excellent client outcomes.
The Senior Trade & Position Oversight Analyst will proactively oversee middle office processes by monitoring Investment Manager trading activity and Custodian operational service standards and any associated post trade activity. And to take responsibility for the resolution of exceptions, discrepancies, and operational controls. This will include regulatory and risk oversight projects as well as contributing to the broader oversight of the investment managers of SJP’s fund range.
What you’ll be doing:
- Serving as a central technical expert for trade and position oversight within the investment operations team across a wide range of financial instruments including securities, derivatives, FX, money markets and repo.
- Raising and resolving discrepancies and exceptions, taking ownership for appropriate escalation of ongoing issues or concerns.
- Regularly reviewing Investment manager trading activities to ensure funds are appropriately managed, meeting regulatory obligations and mitigating exposure risk to the funds and maintaining industry knowledge in all aspects of relevant trading and execution.
- Performing periodic checks to monitor Investment managers adherence to relevant rules for in scope instruments and funds.
- Analysing relevant trading and custody metrics to ensure the timely resolution of issues.
- Supporting the Head of Trade & Position Oversight to improve the scalability, efficiency, and effectiveness of SJP’s derivative and collateral monitoring processes (including the oversight of Uncleared Margin Rules).
- Monitoring thresholds and Investment Manager adherence to relevant operational requirements.
- Providing subject matter expertise to onboarding and fund lifecycle event teams, ensuring trading and custody activities are appropriately considered.
- Supporting operational due diligence as part of the onboarding of new managers and strategies, acting as a point of escalation for junior team members and providing subject matter expertise to support the resolution of issues.
- Supporting the Trade & Position management team as required with regulatory transaction reporting and/or custodian and trustee related queries and exception management.
- Be responsible for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of procedures, process documentation and controls related to derivative & lifecycle event management.
- As required, deputise for the Head of Trade & Position
Who we’re looking for:
A confident individual who will be responsible for supporting team members with the oversight of collateral and ensuring regulatory requirements are met.
Essential Criteria
- Detailed operational knowledge of regulatory and industry standards relating to trading and custody activities within asset managers.
- Working knowledge of key investment operational activities for in scope products, with particular emphasis on trading, settlement, custody, reporting, and risk oversight processes.
- Strong track record of delivery of change in an operations capacity
- Monitoring service providers against agreed service standards
Desirable Criteria
- Degree qualified, or equivalent experience. Relevant additional professional qualifications are preferable but not essential.
- Understanding of Investment Operations, Investment Risk, Investment Product and Compliance services.
Special Requirements:
- Required to travel to other offices and service provider offices
- Will require out of hours work when projects are nearing completion
