The Service Design Engineer represents in nominated projects/product lines continuous improvement to the ‘abilities’ – installability, serviceability, upgradability, sustainability, etc, representing the user needs and ensuring adherence to related functional and non-functional requirements.
Overseeing implementation, testing and successful outcome in use and considering the solution lifecycle as well as representing end customer needs to drive services. The Service Solution is comprised of products, systems, infrastructure, knowledge and tools.

In this exciting and diverse role, you will facilitate knowledge transfer both into the team and other functions, which can be enabled by rotation or secondment to aid or understand other areas of the business.
Responsibilities
- Leading Failure Modes, Effects & Criticality analysis to inform the serviceability.
- Initiating and participating in Service Design Continuous Improvement activities.
- Overseeing implementation of the abilities into products/solutions to achieve optimal though life costs.
- Initiating and stewarding Field Change Orders through the FCO process. o Knowledge transfer, creation, and maintenance.
- Undertaking and Facilitating Service Solution Verification, Validation and User Acceptance Testing activities.
- Supporting supply chain colleagues to ensure that 3rd party service agreement.
You will Contribute to:
- Decomposition of Service User Needs into Service Solution Requirements.
- Service Solution System trades, Level of Repair, Maintainability, Availability, Testability, etc. analysis.
- Supporting Clinical validation/Customer pilot
- The creation of technical publications.
- The creation of technical training.
- Failure Reporting and Corrective Action Systems.
- Corrective and Preventative Actions relating to field incidents / problems.
- Investigation and Resolution of Service Incidents.
What You Bring
- HND/HNC in an engineering or scientific subject or significant relevant experience.
- Proven hands-on electrical, mechanical, and control systems fault finding and repair skills on complex systems.
- Experience of working with customers face-to-face and remotely in high pressure situations.
- Understanding of industry standards such as ITIL, Agile SAFe, Project Management, ISO etc.
- Strong, proactive communication skills using all available tools. Concise and coherent written work.
- English language – education taught in English or having passed a Secure English Language Test (SELT) to at least level B1 (CEFR) or similar recognised test.
- Background working in a regulated medical environment supporting systems in the field.
