The role of the Service Improvement Assistant will work across three services as follows:
Fife Community Support Service (FCSS) provides community and building based support across Fife for adults with a wide range of learning disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, autism spectrum disorders and other related needs. FCSS aims to progress the life skills of the people they support, enhancing their confidence and promoting their independence. The service is outcome-based, working closely with service users and their families to ensure support plans are driven by individuals’ own personal aspirations. FCSS are flexible and forward thinking and seek to delivery high quality, person-centred care and support aligned to the Health and Social Care Standards, the strategic objectives of the Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) and the National Wellbeing Objectives.
Fife Deaf Communication Service (DCS) are a small team who provide support to the D/deaf community at all stages of life, helping to remove barriers to communication and providing advice and support about hearing loss. They work to develop communication, improve awareness and help to enhance the quality of life for the people they support. DCS are also a primary stakeholder in the development and delivery of the Fife BSL Local Plan for 2024 – 2030.
Fife Appropriate Adults service support vulnerable people when they have a reason to speak to the police (as a victim, a witness, or someone suspected of a crime). The role of the Appropriate Adult is to make sure that the person understands what is being said to them and any procedures they are part of. They don’t provide legal advice or support but are there to help with communication and understanding between the person they are supporting and the police.
All three services are part of Adult Services Resources which sit within the Complex and Critical Care portfolio under the HSCP.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the implementation of continuous service improvement and ensure compliance with policy, regulatory and statutory requirements in the delivery of responsive, efficient and effective services. The role will work under the direction of the Service Improvement Officer to develop outcome-led systems to monitor and understand performance across the services and assist in developing responses. Core areas will include staff recruitment, staff induction, staff training and development, care planning and risk management.

Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
We are currently shaping our future workstyles however, in light of current advice, we are introducing blended home/office working that will include office access days each week with homeworking for the remainder of your working time.
