Are you an experienced service improvement professional looking to make a meaningful impact in a city that values it's residents and communities?

Cambridge City Council is seeking a Service Improvement Manager to join our City Services team. This vital role focuses on enhancing service delivery across housing, open spaces, and environmental operations. You'll play a key part in ensuring improved customer experience and driving strategic change across multiple service areas.

You'll lead on complaints management, disrepair cases, Freedom of Information requests, reports of damp, mould and condensation (DCM) and performance improvement initiatives. Through smart use of data and collaborative leadership, you will help us deliver a more responsive and accountable service for our residents.

We're looking for a proactive and collaborative leader with a strong track record in service improvement, ideally in housing maintenance or a local government context. You'll be a confident communicator, analytical thinker, and skilled at influencing others to drive positive change.

You'll bring:

  • Proven experience leading service or performance improvement initiatives in a complex organsation.
  • Strong working knowledge of housing-related legislation (e.g Housing Ombudsman Complaints Code, Awaab's Law, Freedom of Information Act).
  • Experience managing teams and collaborating with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and data-handling skills.
  • A good standard of education (degree and/or project management experience desirable).

Hours: This is a full-time role, for 37 hours per week. Although the role is advertised as full-time, if you believe you have the skills and experience to join us and would like to discuss different working patterns, please do get in touch.

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £40,476 - £45, 781 per annum (City Pay Band 6), pro rata for part time.

Location: This is flexible - On site working required part of the week at Cowley Road with another council office. You will be able to balance our work location accordingly.
