About The Role
Are you an experienced social work leader with a passion for making a difference?
Nottingham City Council is looking for a dynamic and driven
Service Manager to lead two of our most critical frontline services: the
Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and the
Emergency Duty Team (EDT).
This is a unique opportunity to take on a high-impact role at the very heart of our safeguarding system — providing a single point of access for concerns about vulnerable children and young people, and ensuring timely, consistent responses that protect and support those most at risk.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the operational management of MASH and EDT services across Nottingham City.
- Ensure children, young people and families receive high-quality information, early help, or safeguarding support in line with our Threshold of Need guidance.
- Oversee our out-of-hours EDT service to ensure vulnerable children and adults are kept safe 24/7, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
- Work closely with statutory and voluntary sector partners — including health, police, education and social care — to strengthen integrated working and accountability.
- Champion strategic planning, risk management, and sound decision-making to ensure the best outcomes for children and their families.
- Contribute to senior leadership across the People Directorate and represent Nottingham in regional and national forums.
What We’re Looking For
- A qualified and registered social worker with extensive experience in statutory children’s services.
- Proven leadership at a service manager level, particularly in MASH or front door services.
- A strong track record in service development, improvement and effective multi-agency working.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to hold professionals to account and drive forward high standards.
Why Nottingham?
Joining Us Means Being Part Of a Committed, Forward-thinking Local Authority That Puts Children At The Centre Of Everything We Do. We Offer
- A competitive benefits package, including flexible working and the Local Government Pension Scheme with a generous employer contribution of 18.5%.
- A strong focus on staff wellbeing and professional development.
- The opportunity to shape and lead services that directly impact the lives of Nottingham’s most vulnerable children.
If you’re a strategic leader with the passion and experience to drive real change, we want to hear from you.
Please note: An enhanced DBS check and fluent English (as required under the Immigration Act 2016) are essential for this role.
We’d love you to join our amazing team!
