We have an exciting opportunity for a Settlement Analyst (Grade 6) to join the Settlement Operations team on a permanent basis. This role is ideal for candidates with energy sector experience.


Team Overview:

Elexon was appointed as the Settlement Services Agent for the Contract for Difference (CFD), Capacity Market (CM) and Nuclear RAB (RAB) schemes. This is delivered via EMR Settlement Limited (EMRS), who is contracted to provide the Settlement Services on behalf of the Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC for CFD and RAB) and the Electricity Settlements Company (ESC for CM).

To deliver CFD, CM and RAB we work closely with the Delivery Partners. This includes LCCC, ESC, EMR Delivery Body (National Grid ESO), Ofgem and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ). Our customers include electricity Suppliers, CFD Generators, Capacity Providers and Nuclear RAB Generators who are participants in the CFD, CM and RAB schemes


Job Purpose:

Settlement Operations consists of two team leads and a number of analysts. The team sits within the overall Operations function, which also includes the Test and Stakeholder Engagement teams.

As an Settlement Analyst, you will use your skills and knowledge to deliver effective operational performance and excellent customer service. You will operate the processes that underpin the successful operation of the CFD, CM and RAB schemes. In addition, you will provide front line support for key stakeholders including LCCC and EMR parties through the Settlement Services service desk.

You will be required to review operational processes through your day-to-day work, identifying opportunities for improvement and updating Local Working Instructions (LWIs). There will be opportunities to contribute to projects undertaken by the Settlement Services team including, but not limited to, new software releases and website updates.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete all daily operational tasks assigned to ensure timely and accurate settlement of EMR charges. This includes data file loading and exception management, interpreting and processing information received from 3rd parties as well as daily bank reconciliations, payment, invoice & debt management processing
  • Ensure EMR customer details are accurate and up to date through management of the registration process
  • Maintain accuracy of EMR Parties Credit Cover positions by processing payments and Letters of Credit;
  • Undertake operational activities to ensure successful outcomes to annual Pre-qualification Credit Cover collection
  • Produce daily and monthly reports ensuring any discrepancies or imbalances are explained and resolved in full
  • Contribute to incident and problem management by keeping colleagues and line manager informed of any operational issues
  • Deliver excellent customer service by providing accurate and timely responses to customer queries and service requests via the Service Desk which is operated 08:30 – 17:30 Mon – Fri requiring the Analysts to collectively be available during core business working hours (09:00-17:00)
  • Support Metering activities in conjunction with EMRS’ contracted third party service provider
  • Ensure EMR Party aggregation rules are accurate by processing updates in a timely manner. This will include processing exemption requests through the Electricity Intensive Industries (EII).
  • Contribute to successful outcomes of annual and ad-hoc processes including, but not limited to, ISAE3402 controls audits, ISO9001 QMS and ISO27001 Information Security accreditations


Capabilities and competencies:

Critical:

  • Proven experience of working in a settlements role
  • Understanding of checks and balances and why they are important
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in English, written and verbal, and in MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Be able to work independently and take responsibility for tasks delivered
  • Be flexible and able to manage a busy/varied workload while maintaining quality of work delivered


Developmental/ Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the energy industry and Elexon/EMR Settlements’ role
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Previous experience using an accounting package e.g. Sage X3
