Brief Description

Based at Puddle Dock, you'll manage the operational, planning and logistics risks associated with delivering the Southern Region Track Renewals Programme.

Leading the track interface with SCO, Ops & Planning you will confirm the SRE Track team is properly engaged and represented in this process. Addressing issues surrounding access and Network Rail provided resources that contractors cannot address themselves directly. This role is based in Puddle Dock, with weekly travel to the Tonbridge Track Renewals Depot. Travel to other Network Rail / 3 rd Party locations across the Southern Region may be required for specific planning and assurance meetings.

Southern Renewal Enterprise:

The Southern Renewals Enterprise (SRE) is accountable for the Southern Regions renewals programme (CP7 & CP8) and through collective expertise will develop, mobilise and deliver a £9 billion programme between 2024 – 2034.

The Southern integrated Delivery (SID) which forms part of the SRE is a fully integrated commercial partnership between AtkinsRéalis, Network Rail, Octavius, VolkerFitzpatrick and VolkerRail and through our collective strength, capability and knowledge we will own and deliver the renewals programme. Together we achieve and share in success.

About The Role (External)

As our Short Term Planning Manager, you will:

  • Take ownership of the Workbank at from an access planning and haulage perspective from T-60 weeks from the Long Term Planning Manager
  • Work closely with Supply Chain Operations (SCO), SRE Track construction teams, Ops, Planning and Maintenance teams from T-60 through to the construction phase and project closeout.
  • Attend and represent SRE Track at key stakeholder meetings from a project planning perspective throughout the project life cycle
  • Act as the central point of contact for the team, and secure the appropriate contractor participation in period planning meetings as well as the contractor ordering of NR provided resource (including PPS and NROL data input by contractor)
  • Proactively address resource and access issues, including engineering haulage, OTM, possessions and isolation conflicts to secure the best possible outcome for the project team and for SRE as a whole.
  • Prepare and lead T-45 planning and deconfliction meetings with all key stakeholders.
  • Manage late notice change requirements, balancing the requirements of the project against the impact on other teams and wors parties whilst considering the safety implications to any late notice change.
  • Identify plan efficiencies through sharing of resources where possible.
  • Engage with stakeholders to respond to customer requests for changes to the disruptive access plan, balancing the needs of customers for timetable availability with the need to meet the Route’s efficiency targets.


Essential

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop a team to bring together the right people to solve complex planning challenges
  • Relevant successful experience in leading the development and delivery of railway projects from a planning perspective.
  • Understanding of the planning standards, rule book and operational requirements
  • Experience with complex possessions and worksites
  • Good knowledge of isolation planning
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management.


Desirable

  • Knowledge of the rail industry and Network Rail’s contractual commitments to customers.
  • Knowledge of Network Rail’s assets and how they are managed.
  • Relevant experience working in a railway environment.
  • Project Management qualification
  • Knowledge of investment processes and procedures.
  • CDM & risk assessment (Project Safety Management course) Competence.
  • Good financial and commercial awareness.
