Buro Happold’s Digital Advisory team focuses on delivering technology and information transformation to clients to enhance their financial, environmental, and social performance (the triple-bottom-line, across people, planet and places).

Our projects vary considerably; from defining the smart city technologies that will transform the resident, worker, or visitor experience of a bleeding edge city in the middle east, to developing a sophisticated data-driven 3D twin of a university campus to determine the most effective route to net zero carbon, to outlining how technology can add significant revenue streams across football clubs in the UK, to defining the team, processes and policies required for our clients to manage data quickly and securely. However, all our projects have engineering or ‘real-world’ asset expertise at their core and it is that, with our relentless focus on the triple-bottom-line, that makes us unique.

The team works across a range of consulting areas covering digital strategy and transformation, digital systems and solutions and data and analytics. We are looking for consultants who want to collaborate with other offices, our experts in design, and technologists internally and externally to make a real-world difference.

We are looking for an Associate Director (or Director, depending on experience) to add further technical and consulting leadership to the Digital Advisory team, with a strong alignment to building systems and smart buildings design. The role will see you leading the technical capability development of the Smart Buildings team, ensuring we can provide high quality and leading-edge technical consultancy to our clients.

Key duties:

You will provide exceptional technical and project leadership to the Digital Advisory team with respect to Smart Buildings projects, particularly in the design phase, and will be a key part of the senior management team within Digital Advisory, responsible for the work winning and delivery of projects, aligned to our team strategy, developing strong relationships with existing and new clients, collaborators, and suppliers.

Further focus areas are expected to include:

• Inspiring technical excellence in the smart buildings space, providing leadership to key clients and collaborators across our global project portfolio.
• Providing technical leadership to the team with respect to buildings systems design, driving innovation and continuous development in their ‘smart’ capabilities.
• Leading end to end smart building design projects ensuring the client brief is delivered effectively and efficiently while supporting project team members and delivering commercial excellence for Buro Happold
• Taking ownership for key client and collaborator relationships and working as a "trusted advisor" on smart buildings consultancy, both internally and externally.
• Winning work and cultivating client relationships in the smart buildings space.
• Occupying a Technical Leadership role across relevant projects, supporting delivery of projects within the target quality, commercial and financial objectives.
• Driving collaboration with Smart Buildings teams in other regions.

Your skills & experience:

• Extensive experience in Smart Buildings end to end design, ideally with experience in consulting or advisory as well as engineering design
• Significant experience across multiple building systems demonstrating a passion for technology and innovation in this context.
• Experience leading multi-client stakeholder groups on smart buildings projects.
• Well-networked with both clients and collaborators in the smart buildings sector, and able to demonstrate evidence of work-winning success.
• Relevant technical qualifications – e.g. building services, mechanical/electrical/electronic, control systems, etc.
